Right back born May 19th, 2000, playing at IFK Goteborg

This guy is one of us, and from what I have been told the CSA is aware. Butttttttttttttttttttttt he was just called up to Sweden U17 national team.

What is his Canadian connection? All of his social media and biographies seem to point to him being fully Swedish.

Well he writes in English on twitter, his last club on Goteborg’s website is Saltfleet which is in Hamilton. Mentions Toronto in twitter too.

This article from November implies that he grew up in Canada until about early 2014 when the family moved to Sweden; his mother is Swedish:

This link (his club's website?) says dual citizenship:

I always like written confirmation from an outside source, although your posts have been, generally speaking, well written and reliable. ;)

People say unconfirmed crazy things on this board from time to time so don't take my search for more info personally.

This isn't quite true. His last call was in September 2017 it would seem but he has been in their youth system for some time. His games in March 2017 (one year ago) were competitive u17 games, and thus he would need to file his one-time-switch to play for Canada.

Couldn't screen shot a message as it would out the person. ;)

Playing U17 causes a 1 time switch? That sucks if its that young.

Playing at youth level in an official competion (U17/U20/U21-23) ties you to the country but not permanently. Only official competition at the senior level makes it permanent. You can switch countries one time but not twice. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caolan_Lavery

Caolan actually posted here before any of this back in 2009 I believe.  Shame as he’d probably have a dozen or so Canada caps by now but even N Ireland doesn’t want him it seems.

Wasn't he the guy that posted on here that he would only play for Canada? Not sure if he would have many if any Canadian caps by now. If you look at his statistics he has appeared in a surprising large number of Championship, League 1 and 2 games but if you look at the minutes they were mostly pretty short appearances and his goal scoring totals are very low for a centre forward. This year he is signed with Sheffield United in the Championship but only made 3 appearances for 72 minutes in the first half of the season before being loaned to League 1 Rotherham United where he has made 7 appearances for 158 minutes. Since switching he has played 3 U19 and 3 U21 appearances for Northern Island with no senior squad appearances. I suspect that is similar to what he would have achieved with Canada. He is 25 so barring a career upswing may never get a call up to the NI full squad.

Note to self: The Lavery voodoo doll is working a lot better than the Hargreaves, JDG2 ones, keep it for future use on other traitors! :)
