Kaylyn Kyle

Didn't see a Kaylyn Kyle thread so I'm going to start one.

Looks like she has just received her green card. This is important as it would mean that if she was no longer allocated by the CSA in 2017, that she would not take up an international roster spot. Orlando Pride have been marketing heavily around her and Alex Morgan in the first year, so it would be good to see her keep her regular spot in the event of de-allocation.

[ 1 ] It looks like that green card did not arrive in time to save her :

Kaylyn Kyle had green card issue and club did not have an international spot for her. More details to come.

This tweet from Kyle today makes it sound like she is retiring....

The other things make it seem like she's just not with Orlando any more. Could another team sign her and the CSA allocate, or is that a done deal?

I think that if the CSA allocated her in the first place, she wouldn't have to leave Orlando.  I recall that the CSA started with 16 slots that they could allocate.  It's been pruned down over the years to fewer slots.  Whether that's because the CSA doesn't want to pay anyone else, or because the league doesn't have room for more, I don't know.  If the former, it looks like the CSA is done with Kyle.  That's a bit sad, considering she's only 28 years old.

Kaylan Kyle's green card woes finally sorted out

looks like she might be back playing somewhere in the NWSL

My guess is she re-signs with Orlando.  She was a fan favourite there and they were initially helping her get the green card.

[ 1 ] Yeah it looks like  Kaylyn Kyle has retired from international soccer via her statement on her twitter account. If so, then ( to me ) her last minute equalizer in the friendly against France ( in 2013 ) was her BEST international moment with Canada:

[ 2 ] Kyle made no mention of retiring from club soccer though. But last year, players who were deallocated by their federations and had their rights relinquished by their clubs  could only get back into the NWSL via the distribution draft which was held on March 31, 2016. Still waiting for the 2017 NWSL distribution draft.  That said, the Washington Spirit sure could use Kyle; they have 3 players on their  45-day disabled list and Lohman is an SEI.

^[ 3 ] In the future,  I think broadcasting would be a great idea for  Kaylyn Kyle. Thought her banter with Rick Mercer, in 2015, was amusing  and she was very  comfortable on camera ( 4.29 minute of video) :

[ 1 ]   Kaylyn Kyle interview on Women Soccer Zone podcast:

http://www.womenssoccerzone.com/podcast-womens-soccer-zone-1-2-1-kaylyn-kyle/

[ 2 ]  Some takeaway points:

- Kyle won't shut the door on club soccer but she believes that her time in the NWSL is "closed".

- Kyle mentions that there is a " dark side to the NWSL"

- Not explicitly stated, but Kyle hints that Canada Soccer did not  approve of her playing centerback for the Seattle Reign in 2013 which prompted her to ask the  Reign for a trade -- eventually going to the Boston Breakers. Kyle later states that she actually loved playing centerback with the Seattle Reign and later the Orlando Pride.

- Kyle is critical of the lack of security for non-allocated NWSL players. Mentions that she was dropped by the Orlando Pride when the ( transfer) window to go abroad was closed.

- Kyle expresses gratitude to the Vancouver Whitecaps  for giving her a "chance " . She later adds that she loves the organization as a whole and hopes ,one day, that  they do get a women's team , and that maybe she could come back and work for them in some capacity.

-  Sports media commentary is also something she  may pursue
