The group of 33 players arrived into Montreal on Monday and will go through three days of training and matches under the direction of Head Coach and former member of Canada’s Men’s National Team, Ante Jazic. While the majority of the players in camp come from Quebec, players from the Atlantic Provinces and Ontario were also invited to this camp. Started in 2014, the goal of the Men’s EXCEL U-15 Regional ID camps, held in various spots across the country, is not only to identify potential future talents for the National Team Program, but to also help facilitate first steps towards professional training and game environments and to give them a taste of a high performance environment. Barthez-Battalion
Wasn't there a camp from before where people were complaining about no Quebec or Maritime representation? I hope this eases those fears. Unless this is a different age group.
Raven
I'm glad to see they are scouting the Maritimes Wish we had info on the Canadian clubs doing so.
lazlo_80
yeah the CSA is far from perfect...But these ID camps are a welcome new addition.

xman14
Good to see the Maritimes getting a better representation on the youth side, in reality this number will go next to 0 by the time a legit u17 camp opens.
fuzzx
Doesn't say, but I hope the Impact have scouts there as well. It's a great opportunity to pull in talent no one else will chance.
Soccerpro
It's great for this players to know they have a chance to be scouted. Growing up playing in N.S, it was almost like, what's the point? There's no scouts here and you'll never get a shot with the national team.

Soccerpro
But at the same time the level of youth is significantly poorer than the rest of the nation..... That's true, but does that mean that the potential diamond in the rough should be passed over because his peers are sub par? Who knows if there was a player there who could have made it big with proper training... In a crappy soccer country like ours, we can't afford to write off any region.... The last player out of the east who made any ripples was Derek Gaudet, but his career was over before it really started. There are often diamonds out there but unfortunately they are limited in terms of development with regards to quality opposition. If they are discovered they are quickly moved to a space which will give them the bench chance to develop. I fell that the CSA uses this (which is a legitimate decision) in player selection strategy. After having lived in the area I can confidently say that soccer is completely second class compared to hockey, really unfortunate.
