Guest Ed
First weekend in March matches for Canucks in Germany: Friday Bundesliga 1 FC Koeln (8W-5D-11L - 29 pts - 11th) are away to runaway league leaders Borussia Dortmund (18W-4D-2L - 58 pts - 1st), with Kevin McKenna doubtful (back). Say goodbye to the winning streak which saw Koeln pull out of relegation territory to mid-table, as Dortmund are a class above this season, easily handling Bayern last weekend to set their sights on the title. Bundesliga 2 Hertha Berlin (15W-4D-5L - 29 pts - 1st) host FSV Frankfurt (10W-3D-11L - 33 pts - 11th); Rob Friend not starting. 3. Liga Kickers Offenbach (13W-5D-7L - 44 pts - 3rd) host Rot-Weiss Erfurt (12W-6D-8L - 42 pts - 5th) looking to keep in the promotion hunt. Olivier Occean ready to go under new coach Gerstner. Saturday Bundesliga 2 Energie Cottbus (11W-6D-7L - 39 pts - 7th) away to SC Paderborn (11W-2D-11L- 35 pts - 8th), Adam Straith on the bench at best. 3.Liga SV Wehen Wiesbaden (12W-7D-7L - 43 pts - 4th) away to Dynamo Dresden (11W-6D-8L - 39 pts - 8th). Looks like Nik Ledgerwood's display in attack from the back last weekend has earned him a move into a starting spot in central midfield. Sunday No games for Canucks in the pro leagues. Monday Bundesliga 2 FC Augsburg (14W-5D-5L - 47 pts - 2nd) host Fortuna Duesseldorf (13W-4D-6L - 42 pts - 4th) on Monday; no lineups yet On the amateur side, FC Energie Cottbus amateurs (Julien Latendresse-Levesque) play Saturday and again Wednesday in the Regional League North. Fortuna Duesseldorf amateurs (Massih Wassey) play Saturday as well as Preussen Muenster (Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault), both in the Regional League West. jpg75
Guess you'll need an admin. to change the thread title...D'oh! edit: speak of the devil! You guys are on the ball around here
Guest Ed
The admins are doing a fine job as usual jpg75. Scarcely had posted the thread with a bad title when it was changed. Today, Rob Friend on the bench as Hertha are down 1-0 at home under 10 minutes in. And Rob Friend doesn't make the field but a big 3-1 win for Hertha at home, improving their promotion chances. Olivier Occean starts for Kickers Offenbach, and they are up 1-0 well into the 2nd half. Game over, guess who gets the winner? Final is 2-1 for Kickers. As expected, Kevin McKenna not with the squad as FC Koeln trail Borussia Dortmund 1-1 close to end of 1st half.
Guest Ed
Adam Straith on the bench as Energie Cottbus destroy SC Paderborn 5-0. Nik Ledgerwood goes 90 in central mid but SV Wehen Wiesbaden go down 3-0 to Dynamo Dresden. No sign of JBB for Preussen Muenster as they stay atop the Regional League West. JLL with a shutout for Energie Cottbus amateurs in their win in the Regional League North. MW out at halftime in a 1-0 loss for Fortuna Duesseldorf amateurs also in the Regional League West. loyola
Wasn't he offside? It looked OK to me but it was a close one. OO got a 1.5 from Kicker and made the team of the week for the 6th time this season. Nik L. got a 4.
Keegan
I've been trying to figure this out... How does the B3 compare with League One in England?
Guest Ed
What level is League One?? I suppose you are going to tell me 3.
jpg75
Yes, League One and 3.Liga are the 3rd level on the English and German pyramids respectively. I'd say they pretty much comparable in quality.
Guest Ed
Yes, League One and 3.Liga are the 3rd level on the English and German pyramids respectively. I'd say they pretty much comparable in quality. I am not sure. The English 3rd tier does have some larger centres involved, but you also have to take into account that there is less dilution from league to league as the top 3 leagues in Germany all have 18 teams (for a total of 54 teams). Tier 1 in England has 20 teams and the next 2 leagues each have 24 teams (for a total of 68 teams).
jpg75
Germany also has a slightly larger population and less stringent work permit regulations. And the argument for England would be more money.
TFCRegina
Germany also has a slightly larger population and less stringent work permit regulations. And the argument for England would be more money. The argument for Germany is they probably don't play kick and rush in Division 2. and perhaps not even in Div 3.

Guest Ed
Bit busy at work lately so the weekend preview/summary is late. Friday Bundesliga 1 Kevin McKenna still not fit as FC Koeln (9W-5D-12L - 32 pts - 11th) have another big win yesterday, 4-0 over surprising Hannover 96 (15W-2D-9L 47 pts - 3rd). Saturday Bundesliga 2 FC Augsburg (15W-6D-5L - 51 pts - 2nd) can only manage a 0-0 draw against FC Union Berlin (8W-7D-11L - 31 pts - 12th) today, Marcel de Jong another 90 minute performance at left back. 3. Liga Another big win for SV Wehen Wiesbaden (13W-7D-8L - 46 pts - 4th) away against FC Saarbruecken (8W-7D-13L - 31 pts - 15th), Nik Ledgerwood with a 90 minute stint at left back as well. They close the gap on the promotion playoff spot held by Kickers Offenbach to just 2 points. Kickers Offenbach (14W-6D-8L - 48 pts - 2nd) can only manage a 0-0 draw away to Hansa Rostock (19W-4D-5L - 61pts - 2nd), Occean not in the lineup as reported by FCH. The battle for promotion from the 3. Liga looks to be almost over, with Rostock and Braunschweig well ahead of Offenbach and Wiesbaden, who will be in a dog fight for the playoff promotion spot. Regional Leagues Two games in the Regional League West today. Nice to see Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault back on the pitch, as his league leading Preussen Muenster lose 1-0 way today to Sportfreunde Lotte. JBB subbed out at the 56 minute mark. Fortuna Duesseldorf amateurs come back late for a 1-1 at home to SV Elversberg, Massih Wassey comes out of midfield in the 73rd minute, staying in the relegation playoff spot for now. A shutout today for Julien Latendresse-Levesque for Energie Cottbus amateurs as they stay safely midtable in the Regional League North. Sunday Bundesliga 2 Energie Cottbus (12W-6D-7L - 42 pts - 6th) look to move up as they take on visitors VfL Osnabruecken (7W-4D-14L- 25 pts - 16th), Adam Straith potentially on the bench. Monday Bundesliga 2 Hertha Berlin (16W-4D-5L - 52 pts - 1st) can widen their league lead as they host SpVgg Greuther Fuerth (13W-7D-5L - 46 pts - 4th), no lineups as yet.
