DJT
Guidelines for this thread In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for March 19-25, 2010. If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster. If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here. Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread. nolando
Mozzie Gyorio played a half in a 1-0 Rowdies preseason win over pathetic Philadelphia Union. He had been sorting out paperwork in order to play until this week: http://fctampabay.com/news/teamnews/index.html?article_id=9179
nolando
Bunbury appears to be pencilled in as starting striker, and he played alone up front in a 2-0 preseason victory for the Wizards over AC St Louis on Friday: "Bunbury was sort of on an island by himself — he's not quite a target man yet but he's also not a lone wolf. He showed a lot of one-on-one potential late in the game, but it was wasted by a bad shot." http://www.kansascity.com/2010/03/19/1825276/wizards-drop-ac-st-louis-in-preseason.html
BearcatSA
Burnley at Wigan today. Clark Carlisle not in the squad but Laws opts to use Michael Duff with Leon Cort, so that leaves Edgar on the subs' bench again.
gator
In English Championship play Ipswich (Peters) defeated Barnsley(Hume), both players came off the subs bench in the second half! In League One, Jackson came off the bench in the second half for Gillingham in a 2-2 draw at Charlton! There was no sign of Haber in Exeters' 2-2 draw at Wycombe! nolando
Sutton played the last half hour of the Bulls' 3-1 victory over the reserves of Santos: "Coundoul did not last the entire 90 minutes as he was replaced by goalkeeper Greg Sutton in the 61st minute." FWIW, Robinson played too, and Davids was in the stands...wonder why? http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=22957

nolando
Seriously good thing him and Gaudet found teams they are too good to be playing in local Canadian leagues Gaudet played the furst half of a 1-1 Portland draw with the Earthquakes on Saturday. No sign of Ribiero or Ross Smith. http://usl1.uslsoccer.com/home/411756.html There is some speculation that Ribiero may get cut today: Robles is an upgrade from Ribeiro (me making the assumption he'll get cut today). Ring is an upgrade from Elliott (who might get cut today too). http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1369097&page=3 Edit - Indeed, Ribiero was waived: http://www.examiner.com/x-13587-Bay-Area-Pro-Soccer-Examiner~y2010m3d22-Earthquakes-waive-three

He looked really good in the videos I saw he looked way above the level he was playing at (in college). Only 21/22 years old he could be a very good MNT player if he pans out. He’s young (21), big, strong, and fast. He has a great work ethic and can play mulitple positions (he played 5 different positions in college). I think it’s a good move, if it actually gets done." Sounds like the contract offer is probably true - would it have been a minimum salary offe that he might want to take his time onsidering, I wonder? http://www.3rddegree.net/2010/03/23/and-then-there-were-two/
