Calgary Boomer
Put it in this section because of the potential appearance in Vancouver October 3rd. The Galaxy are pushing pretty hard according to FOX news and MSNBC
jonovision
How would that work? Doesn't the "Beckham rule" only apply to one player per team? Or is MLS going to make up the rules as they go along, just like they did to get David to L.A.?

It's actually two players per team, but LA is already using them both (Donovan & Beckham), so they'd either have to trade to get a third DP spot, or trade Donovan. Some have speculated that some kind of three way trade with Houston & Toronto involving Donovan going to Houston & DeRo coming to Toronto (De Ro's not happy with his Houston contract apparently) could be in the works, but I think that is just hopeful speculation. Calgary Boomer
There's also Landon Donovan, but apparently he somehow is exempt from that rule until next year.
RS
It's one player per team, not two. Teams are free to trade their DP spot. Players that were above max salary before the rule came into effect are grandfathered for this season only.
Calgary Boomer
So here's the deal... Zidane's people approached the Galaxy, not the other way around. He wants to play in the states, but only for the Galaxy, with Beckham. Now, if you're the league, what do you do? Say NO to that kind of opportunity? So, there'll be a new rule coming down pretty quick, and ZZ will probably be ready to go even before Becks.

brandon
Right now Donovan is probably the best player in the league. I can't see them trading him off for the one or two years that Zidane would play. that being said i wouldn't mind seeing him in vancouver come october.
