  1. And Qwest Field is GORGEOUS and holds 70,000. I think Portland might get the benefit of some World Cup Stadium money because they'll need group cities to be close together. PGE Park will still need some upgrades on the Press Side...which is not part of the 2011 redevelopment plan.
  2. I don't understand why this keeps coming up. Have we seen provincial government approval yet for Saputo expansion?
  3. Great question...which again makes me wonder why on earth anybody associated with MLS would be allowed to be on a "task force" looking into the div 2 situation. If they don't come to an agreement by the 31st, MLS players could very easily use the USL/MLS as leverage. And with no salary cap rules in Div 2, it's possible that one rogue owner could snap up a bunch of stars and win everything...including the CCL. (I'm not sure if there's a labour stoppage clause in that CBA)
  4. Whatever the design is...the number 1 consideration needs to be: get the most amount of people as close as legally possible to the pitch. Second biggest issue...make sure those stands have a roof over them for the sound and the protection.
  5. Disaster averted. I'll be interested to see how the two conferences line up. Perhaps Crystal Palace and Tampa fall under the USL umbrella in exchange for the lawsuit against them being dropped.
  6. I'm pretty sure Atlanta's a no go for 2010. If they don't get things sorted soon, I wonder how startups like St Louis and Tampa Bay will manage to hire all their staff, get players...and most importantly, season ticket deposits.
  7. It did strike me as odd, seeing Don Garber's name on the USSF task force looking into the 2nd division situation. Isn't that slightly a conflict? On one hand, NASL could operate without any salary cap/designated player rule, and become a decent circuit in smaller markets. On the other, NASL could have become MLS2. In either case, I think it's very fishy to the have the MLS commissioner having any say in the matter.
  8. I think the most interesting thing about the decision is that NASL doesn't have the 8 clubs needed. Not sure if that is because the Whitecaps are going MLS 2011, and are not counted, or whether the two clubs being sued (Baltimore and Tampa) don't count either. I also have read that Atlanta wouldn't be able to compete if the league was approved anyway. As for the Voyaguers Cup...I don't think you can have any teams participate in CCL qualifying that aren't members of a sanctioned league. So, that competition would be scrapped as well.
  9. Except that many teams are carrying signed players. That's a decent chunk of change for some of the smaller clubs. I just can't see NASL and USL coming to a "comprimise".
  10. In this world of merchandising/marketing, I think Montreal would be smart to distinguish themselves. I can't think of any USL/MLS teams wearing the Man City sky blue. And in MLS, only Colorado's change strip is that colour.
  11. I think they're hoping Simon Thomas the residency keeper from Victoria steps up. Don't mind how the Whitecaps are shaping up. Particularly the additions of Tsiskaridze, Sanchez and Steele. I'd also like to see Bellisomo emerge. It's been a while since we've had a solid BC Centre Back.

  13. Why should I give my head a shake? I can't contradict a generic assessment of a player? That's just stupid...as are Rudy's comments about a player he thinks he can peg after 1 or 2 games. It's utterly idiotic sometimes the crap that spews from people's mouths. If you're going to say someone is crap...don't come on here pretending to be the all knowing and say "he can't man mark" or some cliche critique you could probably use on any player. Have specific reasons. I don't know anything about the player...I can honestly say I've not seen a single game. So I'm not going to come on h
  14. Well, you've given your assessments based on 10 MLS games, of which you've seen how many in person? I'm guessing maybe 1? So no you didn't.
  15. Wow. Thank god you're not a scout. He's played in 7 MLS games. Care to share why you think he sucks?
