sstackho
Unfortunately, Stalteri is confirmed to be suspended for Saturday's match, and we won't get to watch him live on Sportsnet. To add on to the misery, Palace are playing today so I won't even have internet radio to distract me!
Grizzly
Ledgerwood makes his debut and plays 90 for 1860's first team in the 2nd Bundesliga. They tie Ahlen 0-0. More details in the Canucks in Germany thread.
Grizzly
More good news today as Klukowski returns from injury and starts for Bruges. They are leading 2-0 against Brussels with about 10 minutes left. Final 3-0 with Klukowski playing 90.

sstackho
Today in the CCC: - Derby are inspired by Peschisolido's quick goal within 2 minutes to go one up on the road against Coventry. Derby proceed to let in 6 unanswered goals and lose 6-1. Nice. Didn't Derby win 5-0 last week? Derby are 18th. - Hume comes on in the 77th minute, trailing 1-2 to Cardiff, and that's how it ends. Leicester are still 22nd, in the relegation zone. - No Bircham as Luton beat QPR 2-0. QPR are 12th. - No Simpson as Millwall draw 0-0 against Wolves. Millwall are 23rd. - Brennan rides the bench as Norwich lose 2-3 to Watford. Norwich are 11th. - De Vos plays the whole match and picks up a yellow as Ipswich win at Southampton 0-2. Ipswich move up to 14th. In the Prem, no Stalteri as Spurs draw with Villa 0-0. Spurs stay 4th.
Guest Ed
That CCC is one sucking hole of a development league for our young players. Nice to sit in the stands and watch worldclass players such as Andy Johnson though.

SeanKeay
Andy Johnson stayed to go in the CCC because he is loyal, unlike some people born out of calgary ed....
Massive Attack
quote:Originally posted by Ed That CCC is one sucking hole of a development league for our young players. I agree 100% with this. Seems most of our players stall their careers with moves to England. Germany is miles ahead in aiding Canada's player development.

Germany is miles ahead in aiding Canada's player development. I don't know if it is miles ahead but you could make the case that Germany has been excellent in terms of development for at least McKenna, Nsaliwa, de Guzman, Ledgerwood and Hargreaves. Stalteri was a little older but playing in the reserves for WB certainly didn't hurt his career. And yet we can count Yallop among those who urged Peters to leave a big German club with an excellent youth system to sit in the stands with Ipswich week in week out. They are clearly labelled so that those who are only interested in the English leagues (from the EPL to the Burton on Trent Sunday noon greengrocers' kickabout league) can easily avoid them. RS
quote:Originally posted by Ed Yeah you're right on that. It was after he left Germany that FY was involved with Peters. Sorry. Regardless, it does seem as though the German leagues have supplanted England as the prime training ground for our young players. (Although given the large numbers in Scandinavia, that may not be true for much longer)
Guest Jeffery S.
Julian de G got in 90 minutes for Depor vs. Mallorca, Coruña went up by two in the first half but let in two in the second (Japanese player Okubo, the best of his nationality I have seen in Spain, the guy did not need to adapt at all, just stepped right in). De G with a card trying to hold off the visitors in the second half. Edit, addition: Attacking mid Valeron broke his left cruciate today and will miss the world cup after looking to be back strong for Depor and for the Spain national team. In fact he scored a great goal today, he is a classy player, his loss will hurt Depor. But it does force them to move someone else into the slot behind the strikers. Which will likely mean Julian will see more time in the midfield this year after that 6 week layoff.
