19+ Cheerleaders @ lynx games

Recommended Posts

Hoo-rah!

"The average attendance at Lynx games is 3000 fans and growing."

Hmmm, average reported Lynx attendance (which are about as accurate as a Wyn Belotte volley):

2005 - 2,468

2004 - 2,444

2003 - 2,651

2002 - 1,730

2001 - 2,795

2000 - 2,620

1999 - 2,744

1998 - 1,800

1997 - 1,538

I will not rest while such factual inaccuracies marr the announcement of cheerleader tryouts!!! I am outraged!!! Where will it all end!!!!

Whole bunch of stuff about a dance school ripping off kids deleted.

Could this really be :)

To be a member of the junior dance/cheer team you have to pay $100 to secure your place on the team!

I don't think I approve of that. Taking $100 from girls in the six to fourteen year old range for the privilage of dancing at Toronto Lynx games seems flat out wrong to me.

There are so many things wrong with this press release I don't know where to begin. I wonder if the Lynx will leave the "highest level of men's professional soccer" bit in their press release once the MLS team starts playing.

I'm betting that the Impact could beat 2/3 of the MLS. It's a total pissing contest to say that one league is better than another. Yes the Lynx suck, but so does a 1/3 of the MLS.

And we have no idea how a hockey company, making the minimum investment possible, is going to run a pro soccer team. Look what they've done for basketball in this country.

Not much and a dwindling attendance at one the nicest building on the planet. Imagine what kind of crowds they bring out in April or in October to an open air facility with no protection for the fans. I'm guessing 2800. They better do what the Galaxy does and have whole bunch of double headers that cater to various ethnic groups to bump up the season average.

It just might be Lynx 2, but on an Aviator scale, but with hopefully better looking cheerleaders.

And I'm thinking that the Lynx will have a smashing cheer squad this year as those ladies will want to build a resume so they can jump ship to cheer on the "FC Toronto Dynamo Atheltico Inter City United Ice Strikers Blizzard Bleeders"

Now that would be a good name for a women's team. The Toronto Bleeders.

Yeah, because all those NBA teams in Canada were doing so well before the Raptors & Grizzlies came to Canada.

Oh, wait a minute, the Canadian team MLSE didn't own has gone south, you say? So you don't actually have a point and are just trolling once again? Time for some [|)]

TORONTO LYNX WINNERS WITH HIV/AIDS ORPHANS

The Toronto soccer club teams up with SOS Children’s Villages Canada

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10, 2006(Toronto, CANADA) One of Canada’s elite men’s soccer clubs is scoring points for orphaned and abandoned children in South Africa. The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club and SOS Children’s Villages Canada are renewing their partnership to raise awareness and funds for “6 villages for 2006” -- the official charity campaign of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Launched in September 2004, the campaign marks a major commitment on the part of FIFA and soccer associations around the world to raise enough funds to build six new SOS Children’s Villages across the world by the final whistle in July 2006.

In 2005, the Canadian Soccer Association stepped up to help raise enough funds for a ‘Canada House’ in the new SOS Children’s Village in Rustenburg, South Africa. The building will be a home for orphaned and abandoned children, many who have been left without any immediate family by the HIV/AIDS pandemic which has swept over Sub-Saharan Africa.

“The participation of the Toronto Lynx in this project has been a huge vote of confidence and support for the work we carry out across the world and is deeply appreciated”, said Kelsey Lemon, Partnership Coordinator with SOS Children’s Villages Canada. “The club’s participation over the past year has helped to bring Toronto soccer fans face to face with the harsh realities faced by the world’s most vulnerable children, and how there can be hope for the future” she continued

With SOS Lynx Game Days planned for June and July, the Toronto Lynx will make it possible for the organization to be on site at the games to give soccer fans information on the campaign and about how they can become involved.

Based at Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke, the Toronto Lynx Soccer Club is part of the United Soccer League’s professional division. Nicole Hartrell, the owner and Chief Operating Officer of the Club enthusiastically supports the international campaign saying, “We believe that soccer is the unifying force in the world of sports and this campaign will help children in six countries who are falling through the cracks. The Toronto Lynx have a long tradition of assisting charitable organizations serving the youth in our province, our country and throughout the world.”

Established in 1949, SOS Children’s Villages one of the largest international child charities. Operating in 134 countries, SOS provides long-term family-based care for more than 54,000 children who have been orphaned, abandoned or whose families are unable to care for them. SOS Children’s Villages commits to the children under its care from infancy to young adulthood giving them loving homes and supportive communities in which to grow, and the education, training and life skills to allow them become active, empowered citizens of the future. To help prevent child abandonment, and to aid families struggling within a cycle of poverty and disease, SOS Children’s Villages supports another 600,000 children and their families through family strengthening programs and educational, medical and social outreach initiatives.

The LA Galaxy didn't have a single double-header last year.

But please, keep peppering us with your 'facts'. [8)]

Hypocrite.

I stand corrected. That was Chivas hosting the Galaxy. The game was played at the LA colusium and drew 88,000. Two Mexican teams were the main draw (Mexican rivals CD Guadalajara and Club America ). But Chivas counted the 88,000 thousand as part of it's season average. That one game was a third of their total gate for 2005.

I apologize for not being a hypocrite and getting the home team for that game wrong.

Basically what is wrong about it is that these gals are going to put you out of work, you've been made redundant. It hurts, I know, but you'll get over it.

One solution would be for you guys to get serious and help these girls on those pyramids. From the bottom up.

You're a hypocrite for other reasons (which I've posted many times in otyher threads).

Regardless, the LA Galaxy proves that with a sound business strategy, soccer can be a profitable venture in North America.

I agree with Rudi. This is an important thread where the U-sector is trying to deal with serious soccer questions and there are haters coming on here and hijacking it and trolling and all. G-Man and me and a few others most probably should be banned so they can get on to deciding the girl's colour scheme.

Now you're grouping yourself in with G-Man. You're only as good as the company you keep, I suppose.

Seriously, though Jeffery, what is your problem? This 'holier than thou' attitude you've taken on lately is not becoming of you, especially when you're coming to the aid of known board trolls (in discussions that have nothing to do with you) just to air out your grievances.

I don't know, but the last couple of times I've been away from the boards for a couple of days at a time I've returned to discover more un-provoked shots taken at me. I see that posters on bigsoccer.com in the "Who's on the V's" thread (which might soon be re-titled "Who's still left on the V's") in the Canada section there are even beginning to notice this as well.

I mean, I always dreamt of being famous, but this isn't exactly what I had in mind. ;)

Sure, if you say so Jeffrey.

Guys like Jeffrey S. will always make the maximum effort to be bad-humoured and partisan on this board, but since he is running with his nose in the air he doesn't realize how he exposes himself with his knee-jerk mentality for even threads that have nothing to do with him, like this one.

Remember RealGooner, mid-life crisis is an untouchable subject, if you rub at all, never mind the right or wrong way, this irascible spectre comes out and complains about you awakening him.

This explains the way Jeffrey is acting on the board. Once he at least tried to argue his points of view, now he is just begging for Viagra or some other kind of male-enhancing drug. I said it before and will repeat it, this guy is killing Voyageurs with his attitude and is unable to see that his presense is consistently divisive and intolerant.
