Not sure what to make of the Lynx Schedule. Its nothing really new for them to start on the road for a few games. Getting all the long road games out of the way at the start of the season is probably good. The Boston Bruins every single year kick off their NHL season with their long west coast road swings. The advocates of this say that its good for team bonding and team building to have this early in year of which the benefits accrue to the team later on in the season. On the downside, the critics point that the B's ask for this from the league because they aare a cheap organization and having just one long early road trip to distant time zones actually saves them alot $$$. I wouldn't be surprised if saving money is a motivating factor behind the Hartells decision to approve this kind of sched. Another plus, having your first home game in mid may rather than April assures a better field and better turn out due to the improved weather.

not really these games will starts @ like 7;30 pm so we can leave work or whatever we have a bit earlier and make the 1.5 hr trip over not taht bad .

thats what I thought initially. Then I realized otherwise and had to edit my post. If I am not mistaken, its closer to three hours to get there

I think 3 hours is a bit 2 long 2hr max in my opinion, thats with the boarder. It takes aroudn an hour to get to the boarder ( well maybe more sice in rush hour) hence it would be good if we could take teh afternoon off and head down @ like 2-3. I'm sure once teh date nears we will appear in rochester.

hey guys, careful you don't pull a ...

Have they announced whether the high speed ferry will be operating this year?

I think driving is more convinient anyways. I took took the ferry last year to Rochester to meet up with one of the Rhinos ultras (please dont hurt me )we were going to chicago together. Anyways he showed me where the stadium was and its far away from the port so unless you take the car with you on the boat its pointless. The prices are not really that cheap splitting gas 4,5 ways would be much better plus you gotta pay like $40 per vehicle. Its a nice boat and a nice ride but driving is much more cost efficient.

Ever since the Lynx moved out of Varsity, they have been having their home opener around this time or later. I think it has to do with Centennial being a city-run facility and when it's available: ie. when in the year regular maintenance starts on the grounds. Also, like you said, crowds are usually better with warmer weather.

But the first part of the schedule is pretty nasty - 4 games in 8 days, on the road, on both the west coast and east coast.

I hope a few Toronto fans can make the trip west for the opener. We'd love to have you here as we are very welcoming to any visiting fans who aren't from S**ttle.

I know a few Timbers fans are planning on making the trip for the game in Toronto on June 4 (as well as Rochester the night before). I hope to make the trip myself, but my top priority is to go to Puerto Rico for the game on June 6, as it's the only USLD1 team I haven't seen play at home. If I can figure out a way to fit those games in as well, I will. I'd like to meet some of the Toronto fans I pretty much ignored the day after the Montreal incident, as it wasn't fair for me to avoid visiting the Toronto supporters just because a few Montreal fans don't know how to behave themselves.

I know a few Timbers fans will be going to Montreal too, but I won't be one of them.

The Voyageurs Cup schedule is brutal (at this time, the two matches in brackets do not count):

April 24 - Toronto Lynx @ Vancouver Whitecaps

[[[ May 15 - Montreal Impact @ Toronto Lynx ]]]

[[[ June 3 - Toronto Lynx @ Montreal Impact ]]]

July 22 - Montreal Impact @ Toronto Lynx

July 24 - Toronto Lynx @ Montreal Impact

August 31 - Vancouver Whitecaps @ Montreal Impact

September 2 - Vancouver Whitecaps @ Toronto Lynx

September 11 - Montreal Impact @ Vancouver Whitecaps

So we can (roughly) sum it up as follows: very early start, 3-month break ([:0]), 2 matches in succession, 1-month break, 2 matches in succession, 1-week break, very late finish. [Damn I miss Calgary and Edmonton. :(]

I really don't like that ridiculous 3-month break. Notice that, if we are willing to alter our policy of counting the last match in each city between each pair of teams, we can count either the May 15 or June 3 (my preference) match and drop the corresponding July match, which would spread out the schedule as much as possible.

We will open this to discussion later. First we will contact the Impact and Lynx to find out if there will be a CanAm Cup this year, in which case we'd probably want to choose the non-CanAm Cup matches for the Voyageurs Cup — or maybe not, but either way it would be better to determine whether there will be a CanAm Cup before getting into this discussion.

(Oh, and with the last match to be played on the last day of the season, the trophy presentation might be a bit complicated if Toronto wins but doesn't clinch until that final match. But we've been faced with this before and will have to deal with it later.)

Not as much as I miss Calgary and Edmonton.

Re: the Voyageurs Cup, agreed about waiting to see about designation of the Can-Am Cup matches. My initial reaction is to follow the past procedure and count the latter matches between Montreal and Toronto, as it would kind of make the latter matches less interesting otherwise...always better to have deciding matches later on principle...then we can view the earlier as "exhibition" for the cup.

I don't know why you don't like people from Seattle. We had the chance to meet some of them at last year's final in Montreal and we also discussed on their/our forum with them and I found them very classy. They lost with honor. I know that you have a big rivalry with them but I still don't know what's the problem. [?]
