Guest Georgio
Now that would be sweet. We have to get after SportsNet early too (when it's confirmed) So we may be playing both Scotland (someone mentioned them as well) and Wales before WCQ. Vancouver Fan
It's nice for Canada to be regarded by someone like Mark Hughs as being a "stern challenge".It bodes well for future friendlies against European teams. At some point however,we're going to have to line up friendlies against Concacaf nations. hamiltonfan
That would be great. If we get this friendly then there is the March Euro Camp with a closed door friendly vs ???, the game vs the Quakes and another game that frank wants to set up vs the USA. Plus we had the all North American Camp + friendly. To me things are looking good for our national team.
Varsity Tyler
It's hard to be pessimistic about the friendly's chances when one hears quotes like, "Both Norway and Canada will give us a stern challenge. It will also offer the coaching staff and I the chance to have a closer look at players on the fringe of first team action." Here's to this one coming together. canadiankick97
Wales and Canada have been trying to set up friendlies for quite some time now. The talks fell apart last year but seem to be resurfacing which is excellent.
Blue and White Army
If it goes ahead, it would be the first Nats game I can get to. Capacity 15,500. We'd probably be in the Roberts Builders Away end.
Guest Can. in UK
Looking at the dates, I don't think it's going to happen. We have that exhibition match against San Jose in California a week later, and then Belize soon after. It seems like this would involve a lot of travel. Wales-California-Belize in three/four weeks. Maybe we can 're-schedule' the San Jose thing...
Blue and White Army
I hope this does happen, as it would make an excellent football weekend in Wales. Division 1 play-off final the day before, Division 3 play-off final the day after.
Gian-Luca
Lets go for it. We need all of the matches we can get. Travel might not be ideal, for friendlies, but if we use a ton of subs (esp. against San Jose) that can be negated. We need our players getting used to each other, working together, building on the team chemistry on & off the field, so that we aren't at a disadvantage in this aspect in comparison to the other teams in the S-F round (once we get past Belize). Yes, we need the games. The logisitics are easily enough dealt with given that most of the players are in Europe anyway. Hold the frst part of the camp there so that only the few NA based players get the extra travel. After the Wales friendly, pack up lock stock and barrel and move to NA. 80% of the team crosses the Atlantic only the once, something they were going to have to do anyway.
