Guest Jeffery S.
Klukowski starts for La Louviere Friday night with them up 2-1 over Standard Liege, who are 2nd in the league, at the half. Oneywu the Yank scored for Les Loups. Apparently Mpenza is giving the home side defence probs. Interesting Belgian news has Anderlecht making a move for Baggio. Richard Hastings did not start for Maastricht, losing 1st half to Sparta Rotterdam 1-0.
Stu
From Gillinghams official site: New Keeper signs: Gills have signed Spurs keeper Lars Hirschfeld on loan in time for tomorrow's league clash at Cyrstal Palace. Manager Andy Hessenthaler was already looking for back-up for the injured Jason Brown and the inexperienced Bertrand Bossu, and Arsenal's Rami Shaaban seemed the likely candidate. But the situation became desperate today with the news that Bossu had broken a finger and the club acted quickly to secure Hirschfeld's services. He has signed for a month, up to and including the date of the game at West Ham on 27th March, and goes straight into the team for tomorrow's game at Selhurst Park. The Canadian has played ten times for his country, including two friendlies against the Czech Republic and Ireland in November. Gills Chairman Paul Scally said: "Bertrand has done well for us in the last two games but we knew we needed extra cover. It's just typical of our recent luck that Bertrand should get injured like this. "However we have managed to secure the services of another Premiership keeper, following the month spent here by Nico Vaessen, and Hess tells me the lads are really up for tomorrow's game at Palace." Gian-Luca
Lars gets the start for Gillingham in the English first division, they lose 1-0 to Crystal Palace. From the match-tracker it looks like he made quite a few stops, and wasn't helped by his new team missing a penalty. Stalteri plays 90 for Bremen as they win 2-0 to remain in first. Gian-Luca
Olivier Occean scored for the MetroStars today in a friendly, according to WF on the other board. Not a bad thing for a striker to do when trying to make the squad.

George
Kappos did not play today. AEK got a big win against 12th placed Aris.I don't think he was even on the bench. Hopefully this has nothing to do with his performance last week….or worse yet an injury.

Guest Jeffery S.
Seems Rhian Dodds did not dress for Kilmarnock today, they won over Dundee 4-2. Wonder if he is injured, though they have signed striker Invincible who hit twice today, which will cut into his potential playing time.
Guest Jeffery S.
Dwayne de Rosario played the first hour for the Quakes as they came back with a man down to beat Norway top flight Staebak 2-1 in La Manga Cup, held in Spain. Onstad did not play, 2nd keeper Conway got 90 m. The team is into the semi final of the tournament, to be held on Tuesday. Olivier Occean scored the 2nd goal for Metrostars over Norway's Bodo/Glimt in a 3-1 win. This comment on Olivier by a Norway fan is on the MLS team's board at BigSoccer: "According to the article i read, Glimt had particular trouble with quick striker Oliver Ocean...guess he had a good game then...". Very good news for the kid. They are likely to be the best 2nd place team and draw Dynamo Kiev in the semis.
sstackho
Hey hey!! I had no idea Lars would be playing against Palace today. I would have listened to that match. Would have been hard to decide who to cheer for though. Actually, a 1-0 Palace result is probably the best I could wish for.
sstackho
From the BBC report: Hirschfield, on loan from Tottenham, continually thwarted the Eagles but could do little about the goal. The first clear-cut chance came after 13 minutes to Palace striker Andrew Johnson but his shot was parried to safety by Hirschfeld. Neil Shipperley had a shot blocked by Barry Ashby after 27 minutes, and Hirschfeld had to be lively again to prevent Julian Gray from opening the scoring with a header. Hirschfeld denied Johnson straight after the break before the turning point in the match.
