CDNFootballer
NASL/NWSL organization coming to DeKalb County? http://www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/2016/5/6/11612392/nasl-nwsl-organization-coming-to-dekalb-county This afternoon, the Atlanta Sports Connection posted on their Facebook page that meetings went well with the North American Soccer League and the National Women's Soccer League commissioners today. They stated that planning is "steadily underway for ASC Sport's Center and our Soccer village."
masster
Got some mainstream media coverage too. Reports are backed up by an unnamed league source:http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/pro-sports/nasl-team-may-be-coming-to-atlanta/nrJgx/ I don't know how wise this is. Silverbacks just disbanded. MLS Atlanta has sold a crazy number of season tickets. This team would most likely be entering after that, and competing with all that hype. This is starting to feel a little like the old USL days when the league would accept anybody that could write a cheque.
Pqhbv
Interesting to say the least, it does appear at least one of the former Silverbacks FO is involved as well: Andrew Smith. The combo with an NWSL team is intriguing, I wonder if this could become a thing?

NASL has actually turned down groups, recently a Las Vegas group who wanted to move the Scorpions there this off season. They also turned down a Detroit bid in October as well. They won't just take a cheque and let em in but want to make sure any new clubs have solid ownership groups. There are actually 2 groups attempting to bring back a NASL club to Atlanta and if its a solid bid would be a plus with the NASL having them back as they're a strong media market for the league.
