Guest Ed
Upcoming action for Canucks in Germany (prior to next week's friendly vs Greece). Friday Bundesliga 2 Energie Cottbus (10W-4D-6L - 34 pts - 7th) host Alemannia Aachen (7W-7D-6L - 28 pts -10th). Adam Straith likely on the bench. FC Augsburg (11W-4D-5L - 37 pts - 2nd) away to VfL Osnabrueck (6W-3D-11L - 21 pts - 14th). Not listed as a starter at kicker.de, but good chance that Marcel de Jong will be at left back. Saturday Bundesliga 1 FC Koeln (5W-4D-11L - 19pts - 16th) host Bayern Munich (10W-6D-4L - 36 pts -3rd). Kevin McKenna looks to be getting back to full fitness and is not chosen for Saturday's squad. Bundesliga 2 Hertha Berlin (13W3-D-4L - 42 pts - 1st) host Union Berlin (6W-4D-10L - 22 pts - 13th) in a massive derby. Rob Friend to start. 3. Liga 'Canuck' derby with Oliver Occean coming up against Nik Ledgerwood as SV Wehen Wiesbaden (11W-6D-5L - 39 pts - 4th) put their 2nd half streak (2W - 1D) on the line in a 6 point battle for 3rd place overall against visitors Kickers Offenbach (12W-3D-5L - 39 pts -3rd). Occean expected to start as a striker, Ledgerwood at right back for the hosts. Note that the 4th division resumed action last weekend. Another 90 minutes from Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault in a 1-0 win for Preussen Muenster over Fortuna Duesseldorf reserves, keeping the Muenster side in 1st place in the Regional League West. JBB's club is back in action on Saturday in a makeup game vs Wuppertaler SV Borussia. Big Prussian influence in that RL W evidently. JBB's squad also in action next Tuesday vs FC Kaiserslautern's reserves. Might that be the game that caused one player to decline a call up to Greece?? Massih Wassey's Fortuna Duesseldorf reserves also go on Saturday, away to SC Wiedenbrueck 2000. Wassey likely not fit for action yet.

Guest Ed
Preview of this weekends games: Friday Bundesliga 2 Marcel de Jong appears to have recovered enough to start once again at left back as FC Augsburg (12W-4D-5L- 40 pts - 2nd) host the Zebras, MSV Duisburg (11W-5D-5L - 38 pts - 4th). 3. Liga Looks like Nik Ledgerwood is out with a hamstring problem for Friday night's SV Wehen Wiesbaden (11W-7D-5L - 40 pts - 4th) hosting of the league leaders Eintracht Braunschweig (16W - 4D - 3L - 52pts - 1st). They need a win to keep pace with Offenbach, just ahead of them on goal difference. Saturday Bundesliga 2 Energie Cottbus (10W-5D-6L - 35 pts - 7th) are away to SpVgg Greuther Fuerth (10W-6D-5L - 36 pts -6th) in a true six-pointer. Adam Straith likely on the bench for this one. 3. Liga Kickers Offenbach (12W-4D-5L - 40 pts - 3rd) are away to Jahn Regensburg (8W-6D-7L - 30 pts -9th), with Olivier Occean expected to start. They play again on Tuesday in a make up match with struggling FC Saarbruecken (5W-6D-11L - 21 pts - 16th). A couple of wins would put them back in contention for straight promotion. Regional League West Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault and Preussen Muenster away to Eintracht Trier. Sunday Bundesliga 1 Kevin McKenna out with a sore back as his FC Koeln (6W - 4D - 11L - 22 pts - 16th) host FSV Mainz (12W-1D-8L - 37 pts - 3rd). Another win like last weekend's surprise 3-2 upset of Bayern in Munich and Koeln could get out of relegation territory. Bundesliga 2 Rob Friend expected to start again for Hertha Berlin (13W-3D-5L - 42 pts- 1st) as they are away to Karlsruher SC (5W-5D-1L - 20 pts - 15th). Regional League West Massih Wassey and Fortuna Duesseldorf reserves are away to Bayer Leverkusen reserves.

canucklefan
Friend stays on the bench as Lasogga was back from injury. The final is 6-1 for Hertha, all goals from m/f. From what I've got, the match ended 6-2 for Hertha. Lassogga didn't score but the other striker, Brazilian Rafael scored a hat trick.
Guest Ed
Lassogga was the sole striker according to the lineup I saw: http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/spieltag/2-bundesliga/2010-11/22/1013719/taktische-austellung_karlsruher-sc-6_hertha-bsc-29.html

Guest Ed
Weekend preview: Friday Bundesliga 2 FC Augsburg (12W-5D-5L - 41pts - 2nd) are away to 1860 Muenchen (8W-8D-6L - 32pts - 11th), with Marcel de Jong having nailed the starting left back position since the winter break. Saturday Bundesliga 1 FC Koeln (7W-4D-11L - 25 pts - 13th) are away to 1899 Hoffenheim (8W-8D-6L- 32 pts - 8th), looking to continue their 2 game winning streak that has seen them move firmly out of relegation danger; Kevin McKenna out of the lineup with back problems. 3. Liga Kickers Offenbach (13W-4D-6L - 43 pts -3rd) host Rot Weiss Ahlen (5W-8D-10L- 23 pts - 17th). And, in what may be a first in Canadian soccer lore, a Canadian got a BREAK from the referees. The DFB reviewed Occean's red card, supposedly for violent play against FC Saarbruecken last weekend, and the Canadian has been absolved of any further punishment. So instead of sitting out Saturday's game through suspension, Olivier will be looking to add to his team leading 11 goals (sits 5th overall in the 3. Liga). SV Wehen Wiesbaden (11W-7D-6L - 40 pts -5th) are away to Carl Zeiss Zena (8W-6D-10L - 30 pts - 11th); Nik Ledgerwood still with a thigh/hamstring issue. Regional League West Fortuna Duesseldorf amateurs host Eintracht Trier, Massih Wassey hoping to lead the club out of relegation danger. SC Preussen Muenster host Arminia Bielefeld amateurs, Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault a fixture with Muenster, sitting in 1st place. Sunday No games. Monday Hertha BSC (14W-3D-5L - 45 pts - 1st) host Energie Cottbus (10W-5D-7L- 35 pts- 8th) - no lineups available as yet.
