Clive sent a very nice letter to ASA informing the members that OSA never meant to have ASA pay the small bill for propane and that OSA would be sending a cheque to the supplier to cover it. He also indicated that he hoped that this would not cause any ill feelings in Alberta. Several members responded immediately to all the members of ASA and the Board (this was before the SGM that removed them) that ASA should thank Clive for the gesture but not accept the cheque. Of course this was one of the serious "allegations" that the evil Board used to "suspend" Chris. Maestracci and his gang were well aware of all these shenanigans thanks to Mike Traficante so absolutely no value can be placed on anything that emanates from his office. The unethical behaviour of these people is beyond belief. Unfortunately none of these guys would allow an impartial individual to step in - they have too much to lose now.

So, is there ever going to be a resolution? It seems destined for a courtroom but neither party will take that step. The current holding pattern doesn't seem to be doing anything except deepening the rift between all parties involved.

It's going to end up in a membership vote anyway, why not stop the bleeding and get it over with?

Too simple... all they need to do is get a decent corporate lawyer used to doing shareholder meeting.. pay the 200 dollars an hour.. and have four hour meeting, the end result a vote.. a public vote count and a new board elected according to the organisations bylaws.

That's what was attempted at the Special General Meeting on April 24. An experienced, impartial gentleman with impeccable credentials was hired, the legality of the meeting was thoroughly pre-examined by a Q.C. partner in the most prestigious law firm in Alberta, the chairman filed a report after the meeting confirming that all was held in accordance with ASA bylaws and yet, that was not good enough for the former Board. They would not attend, called their own illegitimate meeting and continue to maintain that they are the rightful board. With the backing of the Maestracci gang, they see no need for a fair election and would never agree to anything that they could potentially lose. People seem to have a hard time understanding what we are dealing with here, with the exception of those of us from Alberta (Bill Spiers excepted - he seems to have a very good idea of what and why). By the way, it cost us more than $200/hr. The chairman hired was a lot more qualified than a "decent corporate lawyer". It should be noted that he spoke with the other side and offered to mediate a solution - needless to say he was flatly rejected.

A link to the Press Releases offered by the Charpentier / Innes faction - five releases, including a legal opinion from their lawyer:

http://awna.com/pressreleases/index.php?dir=PressReleases2010%2FAB_Soccer_Assn%2F

Although these documents were at one time or another available through various sources over the last couple of months it's interesting to see them grouped together. The former Board is attempting (through the rural weekly newpapers) to start a "grassroots campaign" in the Districts that voted on April 24th to throw them out of office, by trying to seed dissent at the local level. Unfortunately for them the members of these ASA Districts were already very unhappy with ASA and these releases are having the exact opposite effect of what was intended. Opinion against these individuals is hardening if anything. A question was raised about why the other provinces in favour of governance change were not helping our situation is Alberta. They are, of course it's off the record and very much behind the scenes, but they can do nothing until the next full CSA board meeting in (I think) September. Until then the Executive Committe runs the show.

Always be worried when its off the record behind the scenes get committments for clear reform and allowing a open fair election in Alberta ..get a letter out to each provincial rep and each independent director on the CSA asking for a committment to a motion for a mid september AGM to elect a full new board for the ASA, with all allowed to run.

If you let it be back room process you will be outflanked the Ex Ctte has to too many treats to hand out to not use them to get its way.. get commitments publically or you know you are not going to be supported at any closed door CSA meeting in September.

Letters to every province.. do it now..

The group led by Mario Charpentier has jumped back into the fray with a vengeance. They fired 1 staff member and suspended 2 others yesterday in an effort to control the office. I don't think the actions will hold up in a courtroom. Hopefully those involved will be held personally responsible for their actions. I would also hope that CSA is named in any legal action as they seem to be directing and approving the actions of Charpentier's group.

An office that usually employs 12 people is down to 6 (I believe that is the current number)

When was Billings scheduled to appear? Has that date come and gone? Any news?

There was nothing scheduled. CSA told them to have the hearing before the 21st but I don't think (not 100% sure) that either side attempted to schedule anything.

CSA execs were kind enough to visit Edmonton today. Not sure what the real purpose of their visit was. They did not meet with Billings or any of the ASA districts. I'm sure they managed to give Mario a nice pat on the head though.
