Vancouversoccerman
Hi, While most of you may know me from the Whitecaps Stadium Friends of Soccer campaign, I think it's worth mentioning that I also happen to work for Shaw Cable. As a massive soccer fan, I'm really pleased to let you know that Shaw WILL be carrying the new Setanta Canada channel as of Friday, August 10. If you have a Shaw Digital box at home, you should be able to watch all of the EPL games this weekend. Setanta Canada will be available in most of Western Canada on channel 154 or 138. It will be available as a FREE PREVIEW until September 8. After that, it will cost $14.99 - similar to what it costs in the U.S. Beyond the Premiership, the channel will also feature games from the Coca-Cola Championship, UEFA Cup, Carling Cup, Euro 2008 qualifiers & International Friendlies. Rugby Fans will be able to see the Rugby World Cup, Six Nations, Tri-Nations, NRL and more. Shaw did this mainly because of your phone calls. A lot of effort went into making Setanta available to viewers on short notice, and technically it's no mean feat to get a new channel on the air within days of its inception. Shaw should be able to take orders for Setanta as of this weekend. Cheers, Bill Currie

Without the Voyaguers website, we would all be in the dark with regards to soccer on television. Shaw Cable actually had galls this time!!!! Hats off to them. Natesta
I was under the impression that Coca Cola Championship games were not going to be shown in Canada. Has this changed?

Andrew W
quote:Originally posted by Cheeta 154 SHAW Winnipeg... Inside the SPL on at 4:30. Watched it. Interesting insight to a league that rarely gets much attention beyond the Old Firm. While a bit much opining by the studio co-hosts, it was a nice change. It was also on channel 154 here in Alberta. Originally, I was going to sleep in tomorrow morning as I don't get many Saturday's off work. However, I'll be up to see the Sunderland v. Tottenham matchup. I plan to milk every penny's worth of the free month. I like what I see already.
Andrew W
quote:Originally posted by Natesta I was under the impression that Coca Cola Championship games were not going to be shown in Canada. Has this changed? My channel previews show the Wolves vs. Watford live matchup at 9:55 a.m. local time on Saturday morning. Interestingly, I watched the Wigan vs. Huddersfield Rugby League game live today. I'm a much bigger Rugby Union fan, but I watched the RL matchup simply because I could. Meanwhile over on FSWC they were showing the 18th replay of the Boca vs. Rosario Central divefest before switching to the all-time Canadian content champion show Guy Stuff. With no MLS on FSWC looks like I'll be cancelling that baby (along with all my other pay channels) to afford the monthly fee for Setanta.

I was going to start a thread about rating the soccer channels but I guess right now Setanta would be a clear favourite amongst viewers. On Wednesday they are showing two Euro 08 qualifiers and two friendlies, while FSWC is showing more Guy Stuff, Out of Bounds with John Oakley, Max Power and, of course IFL. Could anybody in "the know" help me answer this question: does the FSWC report with Peacock, Machado, McMahon et al broadcast in both Canada and the U.S. or just in Canada? BearcatSA
Judging from the Fox Soccer Channel website, I guess they must do both the U.S. and Canada with their reports.
Footy
Yeah its seen in both USA and Canada caught it once when I was in Bellingham, Washington. Fox sports canada has really gone down hill it should be replaced with Fox Soccer Channel Canada at least they can piggy back off the US channel for programming. Cheeta
Tell you what I'd like. I'd like for the published schedule to match what's coming out of the box. 9:15 a.m. in Winnipeg and the schedule reads EPL (Bolten-Reading) and they're showing Eredivisie (NEC-PSV). Channels not much good if it's a crap shoot everytime you set the VCR or set down to watch a match and something entirely different to what you were expecting comes up. Vancity Tim
That Fox Soccer Report is actually produced by Global TV in Winnipeg I believe. In someone's garage by the looks of it. The only reason I still have that channel is for the hour of Sky Sports News they show everyday and the Premierleague recap show on Sundays. Other than those two shows i can't be arsed to even spend the effort punching 113 into my remote. I still don't understand why they won't try to bring in some games from the SPL, CCC or even a league lower? I personally would be more interested in that than what they are showing now. mrpopulistfutebol
At least they show Italian Serie A.
Johnnyranger
They (FSW & FSC) can't show SPL because of the Rangers and Shellick Supporters clubs agreement with Setanta as proprietary broadcasters...Setanta now shows midweek replays of Auld Firm games. Same thing goes with the other leagues...GOL TV shows some Serie A along with Telatino and FSW...Being the only blip I'm aware of... Sky Sports News Through the night or whatever is class. mrpopulistfutebol
I believe that Gol TV does not have the North American tv rights to Serie A. Fox Sports does now, from my recollection in the US and Telelatino in Canada.
