Guest Can. in UK
I'd rather he rest and get fit for Honduras... but I guess Canada doesn't pay his bills.
An Observer
I am in between on this one. De Vos needs games as its the beginning of the season. If he takes a week off, it means he will only have one match before playing for us next...not ideal. so if he can play this weekend, I say play and hopefully get match fit. Cheeta
Difficult situation. And not unlike the one with Radz. Radz. gets a strain, A COMMON EARLY SEASON INJURY, and will get pysio, rest, and light duty all week so he'll hopefully be able to play next weekend, recovered and not do himself further harm and risk a longer more serious injury. So Radz. stays in London and misses last nights effort. Had Fulham a mid-week match Radz. would have missed it, too. Same goes for JDV. If a couple of days of being easy on his peg will get him back up to 100% again that's what has to be done. Pity Canada couldn't use him because Heaven knows we needed him, but if he'll be ready for Ipswich's next match I won't begrudge them his presence. Because Heaven knows Ipswich need him to. Everyone has got to remember the age of these two players. They're not spring chickens anymore and have to be more careful with the knocks and strains they pick up. As you get onto 30 say what you want, the hardware is tired, a little more fragile, and carrying the hidden scars from a decade or more on the football pitch. nolando
The big difference is that you know that JDV would never overstate or bluff an injury to get out of a match, especially not for Canada.
Lord Bob
Exactly, nolando. Radzinski isn't the most enthusiastic player ever to rush to the Canadian colours, while I have never been anything but impressed with De Vos's loyalty. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
nolando
I talked to JDV on Tuesday at Swangard and he was just shattered that he wasn't playing. He's MY captain.
Guest Can. in UK
Ipswich team doctors now say the De Vos doesn't have a fracture and that he'll play tomorrow. They did mention, however, that he'll need rest between matches in order for his leg to heal. Sounds like he won't be playing International matches any time soon. mluciani
Is is possible DeVos isn't ticked off that he isn't Captain anymore. Marco
