OANA. All rights reserved. SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) - FIFA vice president Jack Warner said Wednesday that South Korea is fully prepared to host the 2007 Under-20 World Cup. In light of South Koreans' enthusiasm for soccer during the 2002 World Cup, Seoul has full capabilities to hold the Youth World Cup successfully, he said. Warner is visiting Seoul to watch a Wednesday friendly between South Korea and Trinidad and Tobago. Buoyed by the successful hosting of the 2002 World Cup, South Korea is pushing to host the 2007 World Youth World Cup and the 2011 Women's World Cup. South Korea is currently vying with Canada and the United States in its bid for the youth soccer tournament. South Korea and Japan co-hosted the 2002 World Cup. Stunning the world by killing giants such as Portugal and Italy, South Korea placed fourth in the competition. (END).
Gian-Luca
The US is now bidding as well?
DJT
Tournaments such as this, the Confederations Cup, WWC, etc. that are significantly smaller than the WC must go to "smaller" countries such as Canada. Otherwise it will always be the same countries hosting every tournament.
beachesl
The US and Korea have the stadiums, but will they get the fans to what may be seen as a B grade event in those countries? Korea (unlike Japan) had trouble trying to fill their white elephants with fans for matches not involving their own team, and the US has been oversaturated with soccer. Hopefully, we can get the plans for stadiums in Toronto and Vancouver looking feasible by October, and with Edmonton and the FieldTurf stadiums in the East, it will look good to FIFA. Nothing on the US soccer website, and nothing at all after a google search. they may be quietly planning this, as some of us suspected in the winter. The big attraction for them to FIFA would be the ss stadiums finished or being built.
Blue and White Army
Japan might have filled their White Elephants during the World Cup, but their domestic league gates aren't much better than that of Korea. WYC in Korea? Why not Madagascar?

Massive Attack
The U.A.E. just hosted the 2003 WYC, wouldn't 2007 be to soon to give it to an Asian nation again?
sstackho
Agreed. IMO, we're still the frontrunners.
