0-0, 2nd half ... McKenna highlights so far ...

35' Paulo Costa makes a great run through the midfield but is eventually tackled by Mckenna.

48' Pressley wins the first header, Mckenna wins the second and Pressley thumps the ball clear.

49' Pascal makes a run down the right wing but is tackled well by Mckenna

49' Darcheville had a lovely first touch to take him away from Mckenna but the former Nottingham Forest player's fiercely struck shot went flying over the bar.

Nice to see that Kevin has worked his way back into the first team and is contributing. Does anybody know if he is only injury cover right now, or if he 'earned' his way back into the lineup?

In either case, getting quality European competition like this should have him in could form by mid-month for our friendlies.

Realy? Well, that is a bit odd. Very glad to hear Big Kev has played an impressive role in a crucial away win.

Was going to write what goes around comes around. Last season McKenna lost his spot to Andy Webster when Hearts came out of the gate rather slowly with the back line in a bit of a shambles. This year it's the same story except with the roles reversed. Levein finaly had enough a couple of weeks ago at Celtic Park and it's been Big Kev along side Pressley ever since with our man McKenna showing good play in every match.

Webster's just a kid, even compared to McKenna, and maybe needs a little push. Think Big Kev's the better center back even if Webster is a little harder on the ball as it were. Know Big Kev's 10 times the offensive threat. In the air and on the ground.

3-6-1? Hmph. Guessing De Vries is feeling a lot better these days.

Seems that Hearts went with a 3-6-1 formation, with a strong McKenna, Pressley and Webster back-three. Could be on to something.

If you read the reports the Hearts coach said clearly he conceived the line-up as five defenders, so it was really a 5-4-1. McKenna would obviously fit into that, as he's played a few games now in league play as a defender. The Bordeaux coach said he was surprised Hearts played a typical Scottish style when in Europe they had played ball control until now.

Reports do confirm the McKenna header was great, but says the keeper got his fingers on it and pushed it into the post, and de Vries knocked it in. A great win for Hearts vs an on-paper superior team.
