Chet
Gotta love the way this is shaping up. If we win today we're in the World Cup final. If we lose, we play the USA on Saturday. It's a win-win for soccer fans. What a great experience this is for our young players!
Lord Bob
Kickoff. Woo! I really don't like Canada's chances against Sweden...but, then again, my belief we'd blow that 1-0 lead to China is a matter of record too and look how that turned out. DJT
What is Sportsnet doing??? The US vs. Germany was shown completely live, no 10-minute delay or anything, but now for Canada vs. Sweden the game has already kicked off but they're still doing the pre-game stuff! jonovision
Humour from the CSA ticker: "Even Pellerud will likely go with a 4-4-3-3 to start the game. " "When on the attack the the formation will change to a 4-3-3."
littleD
Just over half an hour into the game, and already 3 yellow cards. Recipe for disaster.

jonovision
Half time, and it's 0-0. I haven't been watching on tv (no Sportsnet at my house, too much work to go out), but from the CSA ticker, it seems the chances are about even. Any more comments? The FIFA ticker has a lot more info than the CSA ticker, so you might want to try that... though I find they do tend to exaggerate a bit... Well trained, well coached. They seem to know exactly where x,y, or z will be on any play. Nice to watch. Realy showing the throttle. Unnerving the back line with some nice hard crosses as they exploit the flanks. See how they fare once the legs start to tire. Dosen't look good for our ladies. Still it's nil-nil. Better score first though.... Lang and Sinclare look very sharp:). No bullying these Swedes:(.

Lord Bob
Another damned injury. Frankly, I'm starting to think it's amazing Pellerud's been able to coax the side this far. If we win this game, it'll be all the huger for Burtini going down. Our defence hasn't been containing them really well, but they've come through at the last minute enough to make the Swedish chances go awry. PaulV
Pardon my ignorance, but what's the procedure should the match be tied at the end of 90'? Thirty minutes non-golden goal and then penalties?
Elaine
GOAL!! lang off a free kick ... totaly against the run of play!! canada 1 - sweden 0 elaine
Lord Bob
I believe so, PaulV. That's the men's World Cup policy and I don't see why it should be any different. On a happier note, ONE-NIL CANADA! How's that for a lead we haven't earned?
PaulV
Thanks. I'm still in the parallel universe of Roger's Sportsnet where it is still nil-nil!

littleD
Mostroem's had about about 3 or 4 good chances according to the FIFA matchtracker, about time she scored.
Lord Bob
...sheesh... Win or lose, we should all thank Swiatek after this tournament for keeping Canada in it. She's been nothing short of brilliant for the entire tournament.
Lord Bob
2-1 I'll be honest. We didn't deserve to win that game. Thanks anyway, Canada.
littleD
Sucks that Canada lost, but I won't mind seeing another USA-Canada match.
