Had :)

But that's great, thanks Ref and anyone. Please update, correct, etc...

The east is very young. It's a bit older in the west but not much. Quebec is a bit of an anomaly with 5 of the 7 oldest in the East, but they carry a lot of youth too. About 90% of the active players in the east are 18-21. A good comparative would be the German league where there is no peak burst age range and distribution is much more balanced up until 27. They also have 30 players over 28, we have 2.

If you are 23 in the Canadian W League, your nickname is Grandma. We really need to find a way to keep women playing at the upper end. Add in Pellerud's comments the other day about women peaking around 27 and you can see the severity of the problem.

Vic you can add to Amiral roster to Haïtian players : Manoucheka Pierre-Louis and Adeline Saintilmond. They have been recruited by someone in Quebec participating in the country reconstruction. Coaches have seen them on video only. Eager to see them on play.

For those who read french : http://www.cyberpresse.ca/le-soleil/sports/soccer/201105/31/01-4404774-une-offensive-haitienne-pour-lamiral.php

Thanks those are beautiful names and hopefully the cross-culture can add to the mix. Easy 3-0 win today for the Amiral, playing 25 hours later in Hamilton tomorrow will be a challenge if they didn't run the bench.

Fury and Whitecaps each net an impressive four. Looks like Busby is mixing things up and trying to find the magic potion of the two complete lines of great attackers he has.

Why does a local newspaper reporter call a 4-1 loss getting crushed? That's a little overboard and unnecessary. The other question is why does a coach pull a goalkeeper at half-time who is supposedly in the running for a World Cup roster spot in 6 days? Is that to protect them from letting in six? Was it a for poor form? Or has she been notified the spot is filled?

Bit more of a test for Vancouver and Ottawa tomorrow.

Hey Vic I agree, if you were to see the Highlanders play you will be scratching your head. IMHO players are being poorly utilized and strategy is missing.

Ottawa picks up steam and levels Laval but if the fouls are right (14-1 for Laval) perhaps the steamroll was the other direction a bit as well. The Highlanders go down again and the Amiral come up large again on a short layoff. Navycyr is right about the Toronto/Quebec midweek game, luckily for the Lady Lynx they play Quebec Wednesday and Laval Thursday. Should be a huge night in QC Wednesday, hope someone is promoting the game locally.

The big news story on the weekend is the Caps going down 2-5 to Santa Clarita in California which is surprising even with their hectic schedule. Last week I noticed SC had some really positive results so far this year and it would be interesting to hear how they are doing it. That's just a hiccup and a slap in the face for Vancouver to wake up to though, good teams sometimes need that and better now than in the playoffs.

I don't care if Victoria loses every game this year. What they are doing out there on the island is fantastic. Hang in there.

The Highlanders, an expansion team in the W-League lose yet once again, but they are getting closer. They had the LA Strikers tied at 2 when the US team got the winning goal in injury time. The Victoria team played most of the 2nd half with 10 women.

Lost in the Germany warmup was the weeks W League action:

Hamilton 0-3 Rochester

Vancouver 2-0 Colorado Force

Ottawa 5-1 London

QUebec 1-3 Laval

Toronto 0-3 Hamilton

Vancouver 0-0 Colorado Rush

The Whitecaps have now given up 7 points and the Fury are the only team in the W League to not give up any points. Granted the Central conference isn't as competitive as the Western conference, but if they can keep that going first place pays off in the playoffs.

Eighteen year old Canadian Jenna Richardson scored twice for the Caps in the first game. Also looks like the Caps are nursing injuries and trimming the roster as in the pair of games Busby went with an identical starting lineup and the sub pattern was very close to identical too.

In the W League with random lineups anything can happen but barring Santa Clarita dropping points against a non-Whitecaps opponent they'll take the Western crown.

Victoria gets a well-deserved chance to regroup.

The interesting results this week come from Hamilton. After outshooting Rochester 13-5 but going down 0-3 to them, they rebound and take it to the Lady Lynx on the scoreboard, despite even shots and a 1-9 disadvantage in corners. Must have been an enjoyable evening for the LL ex-pats. Just goes to show you the game is as much about putting the ball in the net and not possession and shots. Outside of London (0-5) and Ottawa (5-0) there is a large middle class and the east is now on any given Sunday (and the shots, corners and fouls in the Ottawa/London game were all pretty much even at that). Again, the game is about putting the ball in the net and the only stat that matters is the number of times you do it compared to your opponent.

Laval wins the Quebec derby in a strange night. Quebec scores early and holds for 70 minutes before conceeding three times in the last 20. The first at 71' must have stunned them because they gave up another at 72' and then probably pressed for the tie and gave up the last at 85'. Super night for the speedy Marie-Eve Jacques and Eva Thouvenot-Hebert who came off the bench for Laval with 29 minutes left and had a pair of assists and a pair of goals between them.
