The quality of the Ultras chicas is rapidly degrading in this thread. I knew the truth would come out! [:P]

The quality of the Ultras Chicas and the Chicas in general was much higher in Monterrey than in Torreon and Zacatecas. The women in the previous two cities had cute faces but were pretty chubby. It seemed in Monterrey for whatever reason, possibly because it is a big city, they seemed to take care of themselves more and were much slimmer. I can understand people getting chubby in Mexico though because the food is awesome! For obvious reasons we are hoping to draw CF Monterrey next year in the Champions League.

To give a taste of the situation in Northern Mexico and the city Torreon where Santos Laguna is based here are a few articles. Many people in Torreon told us about this shootout between the federal and city police and it was easy to find stories about it on the web.

Sept 2008:

It was a familiar scene in a state along the drug-torn Mexico-Texas border -- a group of men lying face down with their hands tied behind their backs -- except these 35 men were wearing the dark blue pants and light blue shirts issued to the local police.

Soldiers and federal agents captured the cops in Torreon, Coahuila, after a shootout this week in which 28 city patrol pickups were sent to free five Gulf cartel operatives just arrested by federal police, authorities said.

On Thursday, the 35 police were charged with attempted murder and drug crimes and moved from jail to a state prison.

From January 2009:

In the northern city of Torreon, federal police said Friday they had captured two alleged hit men after the suspects threw a hand grenade at police and soldiers who cornered them at a house. Eight officers were wounded in the Thursday confrontation.

The Public Safety Department said more grenades, pistols and assault rifles were found inside the home. The two suspects were members of the Gulf drug cartel and were wanted on homicide charges in the United States, the department said.

From February 2009:

In other violence late Monday, armed men forced their way into a Mexican prison in Torreon, then killed three prisoners by beating them and setting them on fire in a bathroom. The assailants also freed nine inmates before escaping, state prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.
