River City Posted February 18, 2005 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Although I am one of the few Portuguese fans that can cheer for their team domestically and all teams internationally (the better Benfica and Sporting do in Europe, the easier it will be for Porto when they aren't top dogs in Portugal anymore), I can honestly and proudly say that I have never put on a Benfica jersey in my life! Unfortunately for Santa Clara, the only team from my hometown to ever make it to the Portuguese first division, they were affiliated with Benfica since inception, thus explaining the similar logo and club colours. Being from my hometown, I have no issue wearing a Benfica-affiliated jersey, but please! That would be like a Rangers fan wearing a Celtic jersey!
