marktci
Laws: Chelsea tie is like winning lottery S****horpe manager Brian Laws felt like he had 'won the lottery' after learning his team would play Barclays Premiership leaders Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup. Laws was doing his Christmas shopping in Sheffield with his wife when the draw was made but managed to watch it in an electrical goods store - and admitted his joyous reaction to facing Chelsea drew some strange looks from his fellow shoppers. 'I made a bit of a fool of myself right in the centre of the shop. People looked scared of me, they thought I was a lunatic,' Laws told BBC Radio Five Live. The contrast between the League Two leaders and Chelsea's assembly of superstars, all financed by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, could hardly be more stark, and Laws insisted he was relishing the tie at Stamford Bridge. 'It was like winning the lottery. This is what the FA Cup is all about. It's one of those draws that fires your imagination,' he added. 'For a long, long time the draw hasn't been fair to a lot of lower-league clubs - they just want their rewards. They know they're not going to win the FA Cup but getting a plum tie in the third round is like a lottery win and it's what they're in there for.' Laws, whose side reached the third round by beating League One side Wrexham, knows the only chance his side have of causing a huge upset is if Jose Mourinho's side become complacent. 'We will go there and enjoy it. I experienced games like this when I was a player at Nottingham Forest - the one thing you fear is the element of cup history and the element of surprise,' Laws said. 'They might turn up a bit relaxed and all of a sudden they're in a really tough situation. They don't know anything about us, that's the beauty of it. 'I have already decided my formation - one up front and 10 in defence.' The Iron could pocket around £250,000 from the tie, money Laws insists would make a huge difference to his club. 'It's the difference between us progressing even further and possibly buying new players,' he said.

beachesl
Laws salutes Iron recovery Rushden & D 1-3 S****horpe S****horpe boss Brian Laws praised the League Two leaders' powers of recovery after they battled back from being 1-0 down to win 3-1 at Rushden & Diamonds. "Everybody wants to take points off us," the Iron manager explained. "Credit to Rushden, they came at us and we didn't handle it as well as we usually do. I couldn't wait for half-time, so I could change things. "We came in at 1-1, tightened things up and then looked the better team. Andy Butler took his two goals very well." bettermirror
"at a youth level." he could play for us if deemed good enough. possibly a strong 6th or 7th in the depth charts? assuming he is a regular with 'thorpe.
DJT
I doubt it. He was capped at a youth level a long time ago (he's now 30 years old), before the current rules that allow switches were in place. EDIT: beachesl tells me that he can actually switch, but has to do so before next week! But I don't know, he's 30 now and will be 34-36 at the next WCQ/WC. Furthermore, he was apparently considered by Canada for 1998 WCQ but wasn't interested.
beachesl
He has to apply with FIFA before the grandfather clause comes in on December 31 (next week) because he is now overage.Maybe somebody should send him an email! Basic Rule: One switch before 21 if eligible for both teams at time of playing for original youth team, the exception for overage players who have not played for Senior team runs out end of next week (the "french exception" for Kanoute and others.) DJT has told me that he was invited to p[lay with 1998 WCQ team, but said he wasn't interested.
Guest Jeffery S.
Long interview on a Spanish local tv. network in a Basque pub with ex-S****horpe Spanish player Alex Calvo-Garcia, who played there for 8 years before retiring last summer. Great details about the club, fans, style of play, the Wembley promotion final, and other details such as who are the S****horpe greats in history (at his very start Keegan, Ray Clemens, seems also Robbie Fowler went through there). Funny interview with young fans and others at his homage game last May I think it was. Found this article that sums up a lot of what was commented in this tv interview I saw tonight. http://www.s****horpeunited-mad.co.uk/news/loadfeat.asp?cid=ED16&id=146177 You'll have to clean up the url as our silly censor got to it.
