shaku_bert
did I miss something? Has Lars been lent to Plymouth? Has Jason been hurt and thus needs to be in reserve team or has he lost his spot?
Rupert
Lars is having a trial game and will join Plymouth on loan if he does well. Jason has not played for Plymouth since injuring his knee playing for Canada in Ireland and is returning to match fitness.
Gian-Luca
Canadian goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld joins Plymouth Argyle on trial By NEIL DAVIDSON (CP) - Canadian goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld had a successful debut for Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday in a 3-1 win over Swansea in a reserve match. The Pilgrims, currently second in the English Second Division, have offered Hirschfeld a trial with a view to possibly bringing him on board on loan. The 25-year-old from Edmonton has been the No. 3 at English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur this season. He spent a month on loan at Luton Town last season, playing five games before injuring his hamstring. "We'll have a wee look at him, and if we like what we see, we'll be able to take him on loan," Argyle manager Paul Sturrock was quoted on his team's website. Sturrock is no stranger to Canadian talent. He already has Canadian midfielder Jason Bent on his books in Plymouth and managed Canadians Jason deVos and Pat Onstad at Dundee United. Sturrock also has extensive ties in Canada, having visited the country several times for coaching clinics. Argyle needs help in goal because starter Roman Larrieu suffered ligament damage in September. In recent weeks, the team has been using midfielder Lee Hodges as an emergency backup to 20-year-old Luke McCormick. - Coach Coming?: There are rumblings that the Canadian Soccer Association will announce its new coach next week in Vancouver with Frank Yallop touted as favourite to take over. The CSA is also looking to base its top teams out of Vancouver, to take advantage of the favourable climate and the enthusiasm and largesse of Vancouver Whitecaps owner Greg Kerfoot with talk of building a training centre for both operations. - James Hired: Former Canadian under-20 team coach Paul James has been hired to head York University's soccer program. In his role as "master soccer coach," James will co-ordinate the men's and women's interuniversity soccer programs at York. A former Canadian intenational and member of the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, James has been studying for a MBA from the University of Liverpool. He also serves as a TV soccer analyst. - Pesch Scores: Canadian Paul Peschisolido scored for Sheffield United in a 2-1 win over Walsall on Tuesday that moved the Blades back into second spot in the English First Division. The striker from Pickering, Ont., scored in the 42nd minute. - Olympic Women: The final team for the CONCACAF women's elimination qualifier in Costa Rica next year will be decided this week in Honduras. Nicaragua, Mexico and Honduras are meeting in Tegucigalpa for a triangular event that runs Thursday through Sunday. The winner will join Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the U.S. in the final round of CONCACAF qualification Feb. 25-March 7 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Two teams will advance out of the region to the Summer Games in Athens. Canada has already been placed in a group with Costa Rica, Guatemala and Jamaica. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the crossover semifinals, with the winners booking their ticket to Athens. - Futsal Update: An inexperienced Canadian side acquitted itself well at a weekend tournament of the indoor five-a-side game in Anaheim, Calif. Coach Ross Ongaro's Canadian team finished at 1-1-1 after defeating Guatemala 5-3, drawing 2-2 with Mexico and losing to the U.S. 5-3. The Americans won the event on goal difference over Guatemala. - MISL Notes: Toronto's Jim Larkin has won goalkeeper of the week honours for the second time in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Cleveland Force 'keeper stopped 15 of 17 shots in a 5-2 win over the San Diego Sockers, lowering his goals-against average to 4.59.

Rupert
How can I do a proper link so that I don't have to cut and paste the entire web address? bettermirror
sounds like he won't even be number 1 there. on second thought, i'd rather he was training and not playing in the prem than training and not playing in the second.

David C.
Since it will be only a month month loan, do you think that it is intended to be a one month trial, with a view of a permanent transfer once the window opens in January? Seems useless to go on loan for such a short period of time.
Rupert
Not useless as far as the Plymouth manager is concerned. The busy Christmas/New Year period is no time to have just one goalie on the books. It may be extended to a three-month loan, at the end of which Plymouth's No 1 keeper Romain Larrieu should be fit.
