The Ref
I regard the new VAR to make referees reluctant to pull their pants up and make calls and also foster them to relax and be distracted from their duty to keep up with the play. Leave the game as it is with all its faults and virtues. We still enjoy it and allow us to discuss some calls.
The Ref
There seems to be lots of writes-ups as VAR is being applied during the Confederations Cup in Russia. Here is one of them: http://www.sportingnews.com/soccer/news/world-cup-disaster-in-waiting-vars-could-ruin-fifas-2018-tournament/1llh93z7df0pi1fb0k836m03yf
The Ref
Here is another criticism quite complete. https://www.socceramerica.com/article/73841/where-the-var-controversy-is-misguided-and-wh.html
dyslexic nam
I don't really get the whole "slow the game down" argument. I love this sport, but with the injury exaggerations, strategic substitutions (where players from the leading team somehow feel the need to shake the refs hand and manage to jog slower than they would walk), and long celebrations during a goal, it seems like there would be plenty of review time for crucial decisions without impacting the flow of the game. The Ref
Heard on a radio show a former FIFA referee saying that the VAR will not be utilized during the World Cup. I hope he is right.
