The NASL is the greatest.

The NASL or Rayo OKC?

Its one club out of 12, the NASL has made strides again this year although some like to ignore them and focus on the negatives  it and other league's like Usl have had.

Lower division pro soccer has its problems periodically but its much more stable than years ago, even Mls had issues in its early years and basically folded for a few hours after the first few years.

The latest on this is that the league is investigating the last match of the season that put Rayo into 2nd division and saved Sporting Gijon. Villareal went into Gijon last day and were easily beaten, and the coach, Marceliño, who is from Gijon and a Sporting fan, said he did not want Gijon to do down. In the preseason he was fired by the owner of Villareal, Roig, who is the guy who gets the most from the least in all of Spain (Villareal is a small town), saying that no one can play with the honorability of his club.

So basically the message is that Villareal threw the last match. The owner of Rayo has come out saying it was a case of fraud and that his club was cheated out of being able to fairly compete. Anyways, the guy is pissed off, and I think given how the season has started, he is not getting his club back into top flight until a future season, not this.

This may mean they stay in with OKC for the long term, but in the short term it makes little sense for them.

The new coach, Rus, has a very strong CV, but they are doing terribly, three losses in a row. Problem is he is one of these guys who is a coaching guru in his own mind, a young buck, cocky, but actually has no experience as a head coach (latest was Avram Grant's assitant in Ghana).
