bleed
Curios why Croatia or Czech Republic would rank higher than Turkey
Big Daddy K
Wow, amazed to see that Austria and South Africa are right there with Canada in the 80's. Further proof the FIFA rankings mean very little.
FootieFool
Useless as a rank of skill and quality, incredibly important when it comes to WCQ. These rankings got us into a WCQ group with Mexico, Honduras and Jamaica while Costa Rica got El Salvador, Haiti and Suriname. Not that it's an excuse for our campaign. bettermirror
What were we ranked in Concacaf prior to this WCQ draw??

Wasn't it 5th (behind Mexico, Honduras, US, Costa Rica?) Strange how three of the top 5 teams ended up in the same pre-hex group, huh?
Guest Ed
You are probably right there Mr BDK. However, there was quite a bit of controversy as CONCACAF (run by Mr Jack Warner of T&T) decided for reasons unexplained to use rankings from quite a few months before the draw (and in fact those rankings were from prior to Canada's very good Gold Cup run and rise in the CONCACAF rankings). As such, we were way down at 9th or 10th and got a very poor seed in the draw. If you have too much time on your hands, there are numerous threads on it buried here. Natesta
I'm actually surprised we're ranked that high. Lets quit with the excuses about crappy seedings and draws, these are teams we would have to beat anyway, and we ain't getting it done. 'nuff said. Jack Warner is a monstrously and unapologetically corrupt piece of human garbage? Am I close?
