CoachRich
In Rhian's latest post she states the Residency Camp is over. http://www.rhianwilkinsonsoccer.com/journals/journal%20177%20%20Olympic%20selection.html Reading about the team packing up their apartments I can't help but wonder w/ several questions - Is this an end of an era for the Seniors? Will the CSA continue funding the Seniors at the levels need to not loose momemtum? How long after the Olympics before the new Seniors program forms? How long the CSA is going to drag out the Head Coach Selection? Who's going to be the new Women's Program Director? Will the CSA be able to get a sponsor for a residency camp again? Hopefully the Seniors will wind up their program w/ a huge success at the Olympics as it would be a fitting tribute to all the players who contributed as the program move into a phase w/ more questions than answers. Vic
Is this an end of an era for the Seniors? - yes Will the CSA continue funding the Seniors at the levels need to not loose momemtum? - there are no major events for three years. There are more important fish to fry who need more help. We should invest heavier in the youth programs in gap years. How long after the Olympics before the new Seniors program forms? - as long as it takes to find a quality coach that fits. No time limit on quality. How long the CSA is going to drag out the Head Coach Selection? - see above. Who's going to be the new Women's Program Director? - don't know that it has to be one person. The Norwegians used a committee in the 70's and it worked amazingly. Will the CSA be able to get a sponsor for a residency camp again? - would rather we used professional women managing their careers and residency was done just before major events like the men. Richard
"would rather we used professional women managing their careers and residency was done just before major events like the men." In an ideal world perhaps but that option does not exist right now and probably won't for a few years yet. A large proportion of the players in the current WNT program are university students. Long term residency was put in place as just about the only viable option under the circumstances.

Richard
^ I am not the person to ask, and you know that, but since the WNT program is ultimately the responsibility of the Canadian Soccer Association the answer must be self evident to you surely.
