Result of the Friday September 22, 2006 CSL game between Serbian White Eagles and London City played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke at 8:15pm.

3 min…SWE Milos Scepanovic runs into LC box and is squeezed by two defenders eventually falling over. Referee Michael Lambert signals a Penalty kick.

21 min…SWE Gabriel Pop GOAL…SWE Milos Scepanovic runs from left near end line 12 yards wide of net and crosses over defenders and Pop on right blasts in 10 yarder to left side of net.

31 min…SWE Sasa Viciknez GOAL…Viciknez has 22 yard freekick up middle. He curls ball over 6 man wall and into the top right side of net without City goalie Craig Boytchuk moving from the center of the net.

45 min…SWE Sasa Viciknez GOAL…Viciknez gets cross from left and blasts 15 yard shot into left side of net.

89 min…SWE Gabriel Pop GOAL…SWE Dragan Radovic long run from SWE 40 yard line on right has him give short centering pass to Pop and he kicks in 6 yard roller to middle of net as goalie had to guard short right side.

Final Score:……Serbian White Eagles………4…………London City……..0……..

Attendance was about 600 on this rainy night. There’d been rain before the game but it had stopped. Then the rain became really hard in the first half. This may have cut into the crowd tonight. Also the White Eagles will be playing Toronto Croatia at Lamport Stadium on Sunday night. I didn’t notice any flares tonight but just star shooters which are what are usually in the family pack of Victoria Day fireworks.

White Eagles dominated the game although there were many chances they couldn’t finish. Setting up Gabriel Pop for the last goal would be a boost to the team because they’d given him a few chances and he’d headed wide from 1 yard and was a step behind charging into the City box and turning a cross another few times. Milan Jancsevic had eluded two defenders at 38 minutes but hit the right post from 12 yards and the rebound was cleared.

Dusan Belic and Miodrag Bogdanovic ‘shared’ the shutout for the White Eagles. Belic played the first 83 minutes and backup goalie Bogdanovic was given a few minutes.

The White Eagles defence mostly kept the shots at long range with no rebounds.

After the second goal, London City players again didn’t make a move to get the ball out of the net and waited until a White Eagles player got it out and carried it back to center. This was exactly what happened last week in their game with Toronto Croatia. That got the crowd booing. They also didn’t like the City team captain and cornerkick/freekick specialist Gentjan Dervishi.

The White Eagles announced their playoff date (they’re guaranteed to be seeded either first or third out of the eight playoff bound teams. It will be Monday October 2nd at Centennial Stadium. This makes sense as their last regular season game will be a make-up game against Toronto Supra Portuguese on the preceding Thursday. The finals of the playoffs will be Thanksgiving Monday October 9th at Esther Shiner Stadium UNLESS the game is between White Eagles and Croatia and in that case it will be held on Sunday October 15th at Lamport Stadium.

Result of the Sunday September 23rd, 2006 CSL game between Brampton Stallions and St Catharines Roma Wolves played at Victoria Park in Brampton at 6:00pm.

48 min…Stallions Jorge Silva GOAL…Stallions Michael Aigbokie out steps defender who was waiting for ball to cross end line for goal kick and Aigbokie rolls ball to center from left end line. Silva boots in low 10 yard shot from even with left post to right corner of net beyond goalie Claudio Perri.

64 min…Wolves Zeljko Dukic nods down cross from left in BS box. Goalie grabs Wolves Tonardo Capeland as he runs to ball through box and earns a yellow card and a Penalty kick is awarded by referee Geoff Gamble.

65 min…Wolves Nemanja Djukanovic GOAL…Djukanovic aims low Penalty kick shot to right corner of net as goalie Roy Blanche dives left.

84 min…Stallions Andre De Andrade GOAL…Stallions Jorge Silva on right passes to center that finds De Andrade alone to chip goalie from 20 yards into center of net.

89 min…Stallions RED card…Ruyan Williams earns a direct ejection for (he said) reacting to being punched in the back on the same play that injured Wolves player Carlo Arghittu at the BS 30 yard line.

95 min (time added on)…Stallions Marlon Dyke GOAL…Dyke is crossed ball by Stallions Michael Aigbokie on left and Dyke stops his run and lines up and blasts 22 yard shot that bends into right corner of net.

Final Score:……..Brampton Stallions…….3………St Catharines Roma Wolves…….1………

Attendance was about 60 by halftime on this mild evening played on a soft field with mud in the goalmouths. It actually picked up to 80 by the end of the game but I saw it was some people waiting for the next game to start.

This game featured lots of end to end rushes but there weren’t a lot of chances in the first half. Wolves Danijil Milojevic rushed down the left at 20 minutes when a defender missed a ball and Milojevic rolled a centering pass and a sliding Wolves Neven Vujinovic kicked a 5 yard shot wide left. At 25 minutes Wolves Tony Mermigas heads 10 yarder wide left up middle when he received 40 yard cross from right. In first half injury time Wolves Milojevic passed to Mermigas who rolled ball past goalie near left end line but a defender cleared. In the second half at 51 minutes Stallions Aigbokie gets 7 yard poke at ball rolled just wide left of post. At 69 minutes, Wolves players hit the right goal post either once or twice in a row after a freekick. Three minutes later Wolves Carlo Arghittu’s 30 yard freekick from the right had Wolves John DiPietro boot a 7 yard shot from the left well over the net. At 74 minutes, Arghittu had a 10 yard shot deflected wide right by goalie.

It certainly looked like it would be the Wolves that would score the winning goal before the Stallions strike. The Stallions were often outnumbered in their defence and it was good on them that they’d make crucial headers or boot the ball away to prevent Wolves more shots on net. At 87 minutes, Stallions had a long run down the middle and O’Neil Sang finished the play with a flying 15 yard header that the fallen goalie gets back to palm over the top left corner of the net. This play and the third goal were the consequence of the Wolves pressing for the tying goal.

I didn’t realize how important this game was in the standings as I thought both these teams were safely into the playoffs. I sorted this out with Phil Ionadi, head coach of Oakville Blue Devils scouting for his team and Ruben Toro, an official of Italia Shooters. The Wolves hold the final playoff place—the 8th place wildcard spot. They can be caught by Toronto Supra Portuguese who have games in hand. Unknown to me until I got home, was that Supra were beating Caribbean Selects 3-0 one hour after this game started. The Wolves will have to wait now as Supra has one more game against Selects and one against Serbian White Eagles to close their schedule.

ha ha. don't have the scores posted yet soccerman 2.

CSL results league games. Just back from the North York Astros game. Windsor Border Stars won 2-0. That means they are in the playoffs!

Toronto Supra Portuguese beat Caribbean Selects 9-0. That means Supra has come back in the last few weeks to clinch at least 8th place. Also it means St Catharines Roma Wolves are out!

Italia Shooters and Brampton Stallions played to a 1-1 tie. Both teams knew they were in the playoffs.

Serbian White Eagles beat Toronto Croatia 3-0 at Lamport Stadium in front of 2100 fans. Quite a contrast from the 12 (twelve) that watched the non-ethnic Border Stars vs Astros game. There was also a report of quite a fight in the parking lot after the game. Maybe some of the Voyageurs can report on what happened.

Last game was Oakville Blue Devils vs London City which was postponed because Harry Gauss and his London crew were the MCs of the Lynx vs St Anthony's game even thought it was held in Toronto.

Before the stupid comments start... I was flipping through the channels, and by accident stopped at one of the Buffalo channels' newscasts. There were 17 people arrested today at the Bills game. One was "for assault", didn't clarify who was assaulted.

Let me guess, at the NFL game it was because of alcohol. And at the soccer game it was either because of ethnic rivalries or because of hooligans. Right.

Croatian videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqqg9gg1NaY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnmTX51rR7k

For this little experiment to work, they need to control the little really-tough-hardcore-15-year-olds, who wouldn't last 3 seconds in the Balkans. This could be good (2100 fans or twelve) but they can't let some little punks ruin it.

On the Hamilton Croatia board, somebody posted that supposedly the game was mentioned on Global's sports because of a huge fight in the parking lot afterwards.

You can describe what happened in Buffalo as act of hooligans. It;s no different that what you see in any other sport.

It wouldn't be that much of an issue if it were a city v. city issue but because of the nature of these two teams (More with the White Eagles) it becomes a stain on the whole soccer community.

There were cops EVERYWHERE at the end of the White Eagles/Croatia match.

We counted 15 cruisers parked on one of the side roads alone.

More on this later. I'm tired. But before I go, I will say this. C(P)SL matches are WAY below USL standard.

Result of the Sunday September 24, 2006 CSL game between North York Astros and Windsor Borders Stars played at Esther Shiner Stadium in North York at 8:45pm.

24 min…Border Stars Ablaye Abdulla GOAL…WBS Woreth Sampson rolls cross from right finds Abdulla who has time at 8 yards in middle to hold up and roll shot into right corner of net under sprawling goalie Arthur Zaslavski.

80 min…Border Stars Tino Scicluna GOAL…Scicluna 30 yard shot up middle has goalie get piece of and deflect ball into left corner of net.

Final Score:……..North York Astros………0…………Windsor Border Stars……….2……….

Attendance started off as 12 (twelve) and ended up at about 5 by the second half. The game had been delayed by the final of the Open Canada Cup and then a kiddie’s all-star game. By this time we’d had more rain and the temperature had sunk to a coldness combined with a bitter wind. Parkas required! The 200 fans of the Cup final had gone home and the 100 or so parents for the youth game immediately fled once their game had finished.

I’d seen Border Stars bring 12 guys to Toronto in the last two weeks so asked defender Scott Patiquin before the game began about how many guys were here tonight. He said fourteen which meant three subs. He knew they needed one point tonight to make the playoffs as losing and they’d stayed tied with St Catharines Roma Wolves but Wolves would get the tie breaker because of a better head to head record between the two teams. Looking back at my notes, I didn’t notice that any but the starting eleven played for Windsor. With the game ending at 10:49pm that still left them with a four hour return trip to Windsor and work tomorrow! They had to do this last Wednesday and Friday too.

Anthony Santilli earned the shutout for Border Stars. Non-scoring high lights from this game were at 8 minutes when WBS Woreth Sampson crossed from near the right corner flag and the ball pinball off defender and diving WBS Ablaye Abdulla header had the Astros goalie catch from 4 yards. At 12 minutes, WBS Aaron Byrd tips up a ball and his midair lob from 20 yards had the goalie fly to tip ball off bar and over the net. At 28 minutes WBS Byrd cross from 20 yards near left end line had the leaping goalie palm ball through the box above WBS players waiting for header. At 30 minutes Astros Hussein Sobh’s 35 yard blast up the middle had ball wide left but the goalie ran into the post injuring himself. One minute later Astros Eugene Ishchak stumbles but stubs a 12 yard roller past defender that diving goalie stops. In first half injury time, Astros Jahmo Welch is touched pass right and he rolls 10 yard shot wide right. At 58 minutes, Sampson’s 20 yard shot low and crumpling goalie block in center of net and big rebound cleared. At 69 minutes, WBS Will Kletzien got three chances inside Astros box after a freekick with him being twice blocked and finishing with a 15 yard shot high and wide right of net. At 78 minutes, WBS Tino Scicluna’s 15 yard blast from left had goalie push ball wide left. At 84 minutes, WBS Abdulla got the ball around the goalie from 12 yards but a defender is behind him to clear ball off line. At 88 minutes the Astros Janarthan Sadacharalingam ran up right and crosses to Astros Daniel Vocino who scissor kicks from 5 yards that has goalie catch ball in chest as he was sprawling out. At 90 minutes WBS Kletzien had a 20 yard blast off underside of the bar near the right post but the ball stayed out.

ah.....not again!!

the White Eagles/Croatia match was an amazing game....fans were cheering on both sides (White Ealges fans, were much louder and more in attendance, but then again they have been following the team since beofre the season started, and the number grows every time)

All in all, it was an exciting game to watch...all 3 goals were later in the game, but it was a great buildup.

Too much drama with politics, and too much BS after the game....

just like the other 2 guys said....I am too tired to go through all the details again..

Serbian White Eagles Play tonight at Centennial Stadium at 7:30 in etobicoke!

40 min…Blue Devils Andy Garcia GOAL…OBD player takes 50 yard shot that has a OBD forward chest ball down and Garcia blasts low 15 yard shot into low left side of net past goalie Ibrahim Hadzic and actually through the webbing of the net which wasn’t tied down too well.

85 min…Blue Devils Andy Garcia GOAL…OBD Petro Czoli centered ball and big blast from 18 yards and goalie spills big rebound that Garcia takes 8 yard rebound into left corner of net.

Final Score:…….Oakville Blue Devils…….4…………London City……..0……..

Attendance was about 30 on this cold night. This game had been postponed from last Sunday because the London City officials were administrating the Open Canada Cup Final in North York. Some were fans of the old Hamilton Thunder CPSL team. This was scheduled to be the last game played this year at Bronte Park even though the Blue Devils deserve a playoff home game however I later see their quarterfinal match against Windsor Border Stars is scheduled for this Sunday. This night however there was not an agreement between the league and the city to have this stadium available for any more games this season.

Sabrahima Traore and Chris Baker shared the shutout for the Blue Devils. Traore pulled himself off at only 18 minutes because of an injury he told me at halftime. He appeared to be limping. Baker was always the third keeper for the USL Toronto Lynx this year but didn’t get into any games until the Open Canada Cup final last weekend. It always looked like it would be London City who would make a goaltending change because Ibrahim Hadzic was slow to get up after every save. He was subbed in first half injury time with Craig Boytchuk. He said he’d been injured with a groin pull five weeks ago playing in Germany. Good thing City had another goalie as there was only one other sub on their bench for this midweek game, the final game of the season for London. Most of the first half was played in the City end.

In second half injury time, referee Isaac Raymond gave the London goalie a Yellow card after he failed to fetch a ball that had gone behind the net and Raymond demanded that he get the game restarted. City coach Harry Paul Gauss took his goalie’s side saying it should be Blue Devils with their overflowing bench get it. There were no ball boys here tonight. This was the only ball left as one had been taken out of play for being flat, and another one or two had flown to the end of the end zone. This is now the third game of London City I’ve seen this year (different referee each game) and each time there’s been a dispute about who should get the ball although the other two it was about who should take it out of the net after a goal against them. As soon as the goalie kicked it, the referee blew the whistle to end the game which really got Gauss to lose his cool.

Result of the Friday September 29, 2006 CSL game between Brampton Stallions and North York Astros played at Victoria Park in Brampton at 8:30pm.

55 min…Stallions Lexton Hurlock GOAL…BS Hugo Herrera rush on right while holding off two defenders and he rolls cross from 12 yards to Hurlock for him to lob 10 yarder from left into right side of net.

79 min…Astros Misiara Beleshi GOAL…Astros Beleshi fed pass up middle and takes low 15 yard shot that rolls off left goalpost and into net with goalie Roy Blanche coming out to challenge him.

85 min…Stallions Jorge Silva GOAL…BS Lexton Hurlock leaps over sliding tackle of Astros Samael Delgado on right sideline and continues to run for another 20 yards and his high cross to Silva who slips a 15 yard shot under goalie Arthur Zaslavski to right side of net.

90 min…Stallions Marlon Dyke GOAL…Dyke charges in on 1 on 1 rush up middle with defender and as he’s forced over on right he rolls 15 yard shot that banks off left post and into net.

Final Score:…Brampton Stallions…….3……….North York Astros……1……..

Attendance was about 15 on this cold night played on a soft field. This game had been rescheduled from Sunday September 3rd (because the Stallions were playing in the Open Canada Cup semi-finals in London on that weekend) and again from Wednesday the 27th because a city official ordered the game called off as they didn’t want the field chewed up after the rain. There wouldn’t have been much difference to tonight’s game because there had been rain at times the two days since.

The Astros played some of their best soccer of the season tonight. They were let down by their inaccurate shooting much like happened all season but at least tonight no one was afraid to take shots. The Stallions couldn’t string two passes together for much of the night.

Goalie Roy Blanche was injured a few times rushing out of his box to clear potential through balls. He had signaled that he couldn’t play on and the trainer physio who’d treated one smash up gave the bench to warm up their back up goalie but he stayed in the game first not taking goal kicks but later playing his full role and he was subbed in second half injury time so the owner’s son Frankie Fuliere could say he played in the league. Referee Vito Curalli gave out two cards for those Astros who challenged Blanche’s clearances.

Astros had about four guys I’d never seen before which I heard were made up from some players from their reserve team.
