U15s Set to Camp in Surrey, BC

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s boys and girls U15 National Teams will both be holding training camps in Surrey, BC from March 30th through April 6th, 2006. Two local soccer clubs, Peace Arch Soccer Club (boys) and Semiahmoo Soccer Club (girls) have partnered with the Canadian Soccer Association to host the above-mentioned camps on the South Surrey peninsula.

'This is an excellent opportunity for these players to make an impression on the National Team program,” said U-15 boy’s head coach Sean Fleming. “It is their first introduction to a National team atmosphere and it will hopefully be a challenging and rewarding experience.'

“The idea of holding a joint camp has come together very quickly – largely thanks to Semiahmoo and Peace Arch working together so effectively. This is truly a precedent setting camp. We hope that this kind of grassroots club support will inspire others to support our national team development program.”

U15 girls head coach Bob Birarda shared Fleming’s thoughts regarding the two Surrey clubs.

'South Surrey has the ideal amenities to play host to this camp. We are delighted to be working with Semiahmoo Soccer Club in showcasing how the CSA and member clubs can proactively create great training environments for our soccer stars of the future.”

Both head coaches will also be hosting a Coaches Night for Semiahmoo and Peace Arch coaches to observe first hand national camp training methods and routines.

Local organizations wishing to add their support this joint venture are invited to call 778-893-1967 (Maeve Glass) or 604-328-9495 (Daryl Jones) for more information.

The British Columbia Soccer Association, supporters of the CSA National Game Structure for developing young players, will also be partners in the camp.
