Ademolu transfer update

Ademolu's contract with swedish 2nd tier Trelleborgs FF finishes in november. He's had a great season so far and is negotiating a renewal with Trelleborg, one of the top sides in the league, possibly looking at promotion. But he has also impressed other clubs. Trelleborg has an offer from swedish premier division GIF Sundsvall and norwegian Tromsø (Bernier?) has also been in touch asking about Ademolu. Trelleborg has already started looking at possible replacements. It's fairly certain that Ademolu will either have resigned with Trelleborg or moved to a scandinavian premier division side before the end of August. He's much to valuable to be released as a Bosman.

Stephen Ademolu has signed with Tromsø. He will join them at the latest when his contract with Trelleborg finishes at the end of the year. Tromsø wants him to join the team already this summer, but then they have to present a bid that will satisfy Trelleborg.

Good step for Ademolu; better pay, higher league. But there is a risk that Tromsø gets relegated (awfully close right now) while Trelleborg promotes (not unthinkable). In that case there's still the money of course.

Tromsø and Trelleborg has been negotiating a transfer fee for Ademolu, but failed to reach an agreement. Without mentioning any sums, both clubs have stated that the gap between them is to big. Swedish version here and norwegian here. A bit disappointing for Stephen, since he'll miss out on Tromsø's UEFA cup matches - they start in the second qualification round, where the opposition seems manageable.

Just a short Ademolu update for those interested:

Tromsø's head coach Otto Ulseth watched Ademolu play in the 0-0 draw against AIK this weekend. He liked what he saw and thinks Ademolu looks like a good catch. He calls him "fast, low gravity point, good balance. Calm when shooting the ball. Not a dribbler but good in the play without ball. Not very good defensively." The main problem should be to get him to gel in Tromsø's 4-2-3-1. In Trelleborg's 4-4-2 he is one of two forwards, but the striker position in Tromsø is already occupied. My interpretation is that they probably want to play him as a winger.

Anyhow, what Ulseth saw was good enough to make him want to reopen the negotiations with Trelleborg for an early transfer.
