Brittany Timko scored in the fourth minute to give Canada the early lead. Aysha Jamani scored the winner in the 64th minute. Japan halved the Canadian lead in the 72nd minute. Canadian goalkeeper Stephanie Labee played all 90 minutes. “It was a good game,” said Head Coach Even Pellerud. “Our team was almost the Under-19 team with Hooper and Sinclair added.
