Bxl Boy
As they didn't qualify for the Euro 2004 and "owe" the USA a game in the States, Belgium will certainly come to North America in May. They are searching a second opponent. Will they come to the south and play Mexico or to the North and play Canada ? I bet on the first choice but I hope for the second. Didn't Belgium refuse to play on artificial turf before? This kinda eliminates Ottawa or Eastern Canada as possible venues. I hope they play at Commonwealth ... redhat
What do you guys think of a 2-match event featuring both the MNT and WNT in Commonwealth? Canada (MNT) can play Belgium or Scotland (who's supposed to tour as well), and their respective WNTs ... Probably a sell-out, and a good reason for the Voyageurs to get together for the match ... Natesta
NO international match should ever, ever be played on artificial turf. EVER!
Daniel
quote:Originally posted by Natesta NO international match should ever, ever be played on artificial turf. EVER! Yeah, let's play on dreadful fields instead! Like Barbados or Commonwealth in November! (Remember the 2002 Grey Cup?)

Which is why I do not understand why the CSA's proposed stadium in Toronto includes field turf!

There's a HUGE difference between FieldTurf and the Skydome's Astroturf. Yet, I do agree about real grass for official competitions. Although I'm being drawn closer and closer to accepting FieldTurf as time goes by.

What is the real difference between the synthetic stuff and the real deal? As far as I know, the synthetic grass is just as safe as real grass and is easier to maintain with our winters. In mandatory competition, the opposition shouldn't have a say in the type of field as long as the field is fifa approved.
