Hannover is trailing Bayer Leverkuesen 4-0, with Oliver Neuville scoring twice. De Guzman started once again & has picked up yet another yellow card (third match in a row!) but judging by the ticker, seems to have created a couple offensive chances for Hannover. Obviously not a good day for his team though.

Bremen is leading Kaiserslautern 1-0, Stalteri started the match as well.

In England, Radzinski, Hume, Bent & Rogers have all started for their respective clubs. Brennan, De Vos & Dunfield are all injured & didn't dress, possibly Xausa in Scotland as well as I don't see him listed as a starter or sub for Livingston. Pesch started on the Bench for Sheffield United against Craig Forrest's last club, West Ham.

Finals in Germany. Hannover loses 4-0 to early first place team Leverkeusen while Bremen beats Kaiserslautern 1-0. Both Canucks played the full 90 minutes. This time De Guzman seems to have led his team in fouls committed - but that's two weeks in a row he's been a team leader of sorts. :)

My understanding is that Convey is waiting for his work permit... As for Hirshfeld, hope he gets placed on loan somewhere..

Btw, I thought Neil Sullivan had left Tottenham? He was listed as Keller's back up today. Neither Hirshfeld nor Convey were dressed for Spurs today.

Nice to see Klukowski healthy again & back in action.

Also from the 16th, Kenny Stamatopoulos was in goal again for Enkoping, but they were hammered 4-0. In Norway, Marco Reda helped Sogndal to shut out the opposition in a 0-0 draw. With De Vos gone against Finland, we simply must call this guy in October. And get more friendlies organized, to boot.

Tam Nsaliwa played his customary 90 minutes in the Bundesliga 2 for Regensburg, as they tied Duisberg 2-2. Tam's team is doing well in its first year in the 2nd division, undefeated thus far & in 6th place in the 18-team league.

Hibs beat Hearts 1-0 on a late goal. McKenna came on the field in the 67th minute as a striker for Hearts. No sign of Fenwick for Hibs once again. Leads to an interesting question - have Hibs finally replaced Fenwick in the same way that we have been expecting Holger to replace him? Or is he injured?

In Sweden today, Atiba Hutchinson has started for Osters, who are tied 1-1 early in the 2nd half with AIK. Orebro are leading Helsingsborg 2-1 (ending a long-goal drought) in the 2nd half. Pozniak has regained his traditional starting spot, so must be healthy again, while Budalic isn't dressed for the match.

In the Swedish 2nd tier, Adam Braz's Vasteras won a wild one, 5-3 over Bodens with Vasteras leading 4-3 late in the first half! Braz picked up a yellow card & played his usual 90 minutes. An interesting question here - do we take a player like Braz off his team to play against the US Virgin Islands? Because he's in the 2nd tier, I think his club match would conflict with Olympic qualifying in early September.

Patrice Bernier has scored for Moss in an away game vs. ManKam (abbreviation of a long name that is), to tie it at one, first half, that is Norway 2nd tier. In top flight I see Harmse did not dress for Tromso yesterday, they lost 5-0.

Both Pozniak and Atiba Hutchinson started for their respective clubs in Sweden top flight, Orebro won 2-1 a good result in a mediocre season, and Osters came back to draw 1-1.

Adam Braz played the whole thing this afternoon, taking a yellow, as Vasteras beat Boden 5-3 in Sweden 2nd div Superettan. They still have promotion options.

Ante Jazic is on the bench for Rapid Vienna as they are tied 2-2 with Austria Vienna in the 2nd half.

Confirmed that Imhof's Sankt Gallen win was their first in 6 games this year after three draws, beating Servette away.

Fernando Aguiar started for Benfica as they drew 0-0 away to Boavista in the Portugal season opening day. The inclusion of Aguiar beside Petit was considered a vote of confidence from the coach after a poor outing vs. Lazio (all starters were the same as in that match), though he was subbed off at the half for Andersson as coach Camacho sought to get more ball control, acc. to Portuguese reports.

Fenwick was suspended for the first two matches of the season due to an incident in Hibs' last match of last season, which was against Motherwell. I found this out by going to the website of The Scotsman (www.thescotsman.co.uk) newspaper and doing a search for "Paul Fenwick."

kicker ratings for the three Canadians in the Bundesliga (lower is better. 1-6 I think?) comments in brackets relate to how they performed in relation to their teammates.

Paul Stalteri Werder Bremen 3.0 (3rd best of starting 11)

Julian De Guzman Hannover 96 4.0 (tied for 3rd best of starting 11)

Tam Nsaliwa Jahn Regensburg 3.0 (tied 4th best of starting 11)

In both Stalteri and Nsaliwa's case, the team's keeper had a better rank. Bottomline, none of these German based players appear at risk of losing their starting place after this week..
