Brennan on Canada duty

Recommended Posts

From service called Teamtalk posted on Yahoo UK...

Nottingham Forest full-back Jim Brennan has been called up by Canada to play in the Gold Cup in the USA and Mexico next month.

The tournament is being played between July 12-27 at a time when his future in English football is still in the balance.

Brennan, whose contract with Forest expired at the end of last season, has been offered a new deal at the City Ground but has yet to accept it.

Well, Canada's GC training camp starts July 2nd just north of Toronto, so the squad must be very close to being finalized by now & will probabably be announced shortly (I'd guess early next week). So all of the clubs would have been contacted by now, and I'm sure the news leaks out to the club's local media that way.

All the same very glad to hear it. Maybe we can see if this little bit of growing we've seen in midfield can continue on into the summer. Brennan's got to be a part of the midfield formula (or at least contribute to it if he ends up at left back) one way or another.

Don't think Jim's worrying one bit about his professional career. Can well afford a little pre-season absence from England. Nice to see that sort of confidense. He's earned it.
