coppercanuck
5 games in 7 days? Not really professional.
Toje
It is an amateur league for the most part, with some exceptions. A few years ago, the PDL set up something called PDL Pro which basically acknowledged a few 'profesionally' run clubs. No idea it that still exists, as that was 7 years ago. The Chill always have a similiar schedule on their 'big' road trip to the US. However, it is a little unusual to play so many games at home in just a few days (5 games in 8 days). Toje
"Expect a moderate retooling of the roster for the Premier Development League soccer club despite making the playoffs last season. The core that includes Zetroy Robertson, Dominic Roberts and Sullivan Silva are back for another year, said Tony Colistro, the Chill’s director of soccer programs. Also returning is second-year head coach Giovanni Petraglia." http://www.chroniclejournal.com/sports/local_sports/chill-countdown-begins/article_196de98a-1409-11e6-83e3-77a6cfbb561c.html
Toje
"THUNDER BAY -- It’s snowing in May – must mean the Thunder Bay Chill are back on the pitch. The Premier Development League team opened training camp on a frosty Saturday morning at Fort William Stadium, and while most of the players had to adjust to the near freezing temperatures blanketing the city, the practice session was the first step in what the team hopes is yet another trip to the postseason." http://www.tbnewswatch.com/sports/389568/Chill_open_camp_seeking_cohesiveness_on_the_pitch --------------- Thunder Bay will travel to Winnipeg in a few weeks to play the Winnipeg Lions in two friendly matches. Thunder Bay tend to bring in a lot of imports and their local guys don't see the field as much. Their philosophy is different from WSA or Foothills. We had Tony Colistra (hope I'm recalling his name correctly) on the pod in the spring and he outlined it.
Toje
Thunder Bay does tend to play a large amount of imports. Daniel Milton is one Canadian player that stands out. Dominic Roberts is another Canadian youth international. I believe their youth sides are quite competitive in the Ontario Cup. Their U17 side won the tier II championships this year.
