Ted Howard installed as Acting General Secretary

Ted Howard, CONCACAF deputy general secretary since 1998, has been installed as the confederation's acting general secretary, the organization announced Monday. The 66-year-old American replaces Chuck Blazer, whose resignation after 21 years in the post became effective Sunday.

Howard was executive director of the old North American Soccer League from 1971 until it folded in 1984, director of marketing for Ohlmeyer Communications for three years and director and group manager of NBA Marketing from 1988 until he joined CONCACAF.

In addition to his duties at CONCACAF, Howard serves on the FIFA referees committee as well as the FIFA stadium and security committee.

At least he has some credentials outside of sports. Three years outside sports in the corporate world isn't a lot, but to know he can be an important figure in a place where corruption *shouldn't* be part of the equation, hopefully speaks that this guy might not be part of the dirty boys club of FIFA Execs.

Please inform if this is logical, or if he's yet another old guard boy being hand-picked for a spot to ensure the sentries stay in place.

Blatter announced that in Brazil 2014 there will be cameras on the goals to watch for the ball going over the line. The cameras will then send an audio signal to the referee that the ball has crossed the line. This new technology will avoid more referee and assistant referee errors and give justice to teams scoring.
