Vancouversoccerman
Tonight, Vancouver elected Gregor Robertson as its new mayor. Gregor is known as the CEO of the organic juice company "Happy Planet", and also plays soccer in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (Div.2). He is very much in favour of the Whitecaps Stadium, as well as their bid to join MLS. In yesterday's Vancouver Courier, he said: "The current council has not facilitated a good process for getting a purpose-built soccer stadium in Vancouver and attracting an MLS team. It's frustrating for all soccer fans to see no urgency...I'll certainly inject myself in the process to try and get it moving faster."

Johnnie Monster
Not to put poop in the party, but Vancouverites also gave the most council votes to Raymond Louie, who seemed to be the biggest heel-dragging nay-sayer of the lot through the whole review process. Gregor is the new rising star on the political left. Let's all hope he reins in the fence-sitters and gets something done about this pathetic stadium bungling. piltdownman
The problem I see is the BC Liberals won't allow the waterfront stadium to go through. They need the whitecaps for the BC Place upgrades.
Blue and White Army
Do they? Frankly, with all the income from the condo developments, I don't think they do. They could still put ina roof that can be lowered for "average" BC Lions matches, rugby games, etc.
smiddy
By the time the stadium is passed and built for waterfront the Caps would be playing in BC place any way. So I would assume it would be no real issue.
piltdownman
I don't think money wise they need the caps, I think its simply public perception. There is alot of people against the stadium renovations, and the Caps pulling out of using it would just add fuel to their fire.
