You are a highly sought after, highly priced, international quality striker. You sign for Chelsea FC in England. Prepare for your career to go in the dumps!!

Has anyone else noticed the strange effect going to Chelsea seems to have on apparently "World Class" strikers?

Cases in point:</u>

Mateja Kezman

03/04 PSV Eindhoven 29 GP 31 Goals

04/05 Chelsea FC 24 GP 4 Goals

(-27 goals)

Adrian Mutu

02/03 AC Parma 31 GP 17 Goals

03/04 Chelsea FC 25 GP 6 Goals

(-11 goals)

Andriy Shevchanko

05/06 AC Milan 28 GP 19 Goals

06/07 Chelsea FC 30 GP 4 Goals

(-15 goals)

Salomon Kalou

05/06 Feyenoord 34 GP 15 Goals

06/07 Chelsea FC 33 GP 7 Goals

(-8 goals)

Claudio Pizaro

06/07 Bayern Munich 33 GP 8 Goals

07/08 Chelsea FC 21 GP 2 Goals

(-6 goals)

Nicolas Anelka

07/08 Bolton 17 GP 10 Goals

07/08 Chelsea FC 14 GP 1 Goals

(-9 goals)

Among the largest drops are Kezman and Shevchenko. Also, you cannot argue it's all about changing league, because look at Anelka's numbers! THE BOTTOM LINE: Chelsea, don't sell Drogba!! :D

It can sometimes be a case of how a player is used, such as changing system and stuff like that. I'm not too sure of what sort of system chelsea uses so thats pure speculation. But yea a guy like Shevchenko going from producing big numbers for a club like Milan to not doing much with chelsea is a big drop.

Yeah but you could say that about Veron too when he went to United. Veron was probably the best player in Italy, but he certainly didn't reproduce that form in England over the next couple of seasons. Sometimes players not only cant fit into a team system, they cant fit into the style of play of the league and their opponents.

Kezman (would never have called him world class but he) has been garbage everywhere after leaving Holland, so I think Holland was the exception as opposed to the rule.

Mutu got caught up in drugs, so thats an easy one.

Kalou (would never have called him world class but he) never gets played as an actual striker for Chelsea

Shevchenko, refer to last post.

Pizzara... is total pish!

Anelka... since he left Arsenal he hasnt been able to perform when on the big teams (Real was okay but not good enough, Liverpool/Chelsea no good)

Bottom Line Chelsea: Sell Drogs as everyone else is rubbish!!!
