georg
Canadians Can Be Soccer Lunatics, Too Posted May 14th 2007 11:45PM by David J. Warner Filed under: Soccer, Toronto What do you get when you give thousands of Canadians big round padded seat cushions at a soccer game? http://www.aolsportsblog.com/2007/05/14/canadians-can-be-soccer-lunatics-too/ Yes, that happened right after the first goal in Toronto F.C. history. Still, for a club that's only five games into its existence, its fans are already looking properly insane, aren't they? Now all they have to do is shoot a guy for scoring an own goal, and they'll truly be part of the soccer community. Funny, they don't do this for the Argonauts. Maybe Ricky Williams shared his bong with the CFL fans...
Guest speedmonk42
What a stupid ass of a reporter. That Columbian guy was shot because he happened to go home where he was huge gambling and drug debts. Not for the own goal.
jpg75
Actually, he was reported to have been killed by drug lords who incurred gambling debts because of Escobar. The other theory is that he got into a bar fight. http://blogofdeath.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/andres-escobar-1967-1994/ http://www.answers.com/topic/andr-s-escobar http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/121417.stm

Joe Keeper
The other N. American sports could stand to take some lessons from soccer game atmospheres. Fans only seem interested in really getting going after a score or when heckling, hockey included. Even euro hockey games have drums, flares, and chants.
