nolando
NEW YORK (Ticker) - The San Jose Earthquakes soon may be leaving Silicon Valley. Despite finishing with the best record in Major League Soccer this past season, the Earthquakes are free to move, commissioner Don Garber announced Tuesday. "At the recent MLS Board of Governors meeting in Frisco, Texas, the Anschutz Entertainment Group was granted approval by the Board to move the San Jose Earthquakes to a number of potential cities, including Houston, Texas," Garber said in a statement. "In order to ensure that the team will have the appropriate time to prepare for the 2006 season, a final decision on the location of the team will be reached within the next 30 days." The Earthquakes won the MLS Cup in 2001 and 2003. They lost in the first round of the playoffs to eventual champion the Los Angeles Galaxy. River City
With the amount of money they have down there, they can always build something new. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited last Christmas and saw a multi field (over 20) outdoor complex northeast of the city - I believe Bear Creek Park between Houston and Katy.
