Bad Boy Bellamy Loaned to Celtic for 6 Months!

Celtic complete Bellamy loan deal

The Welshman rejected a proposed move to Birmingham after falling out with Magpies manager Graeme Souness over his exclusion for a game against Arsenal.

And although Celtic could not match Birmingham's £6m offer for the player, Newcastle agreed to a loan deal.

Bellamy, 25, will now link up with Wales international team-mate John Hartson in a revamped Celtic attack.

"Celtic are delighted to announce that, after successful completion of a medical examination, Newcastle United striker Craig Bellamy has signed for the club on loan until the end of this season," said an official statement.

Bellamy was quick to praise his new manager Martin O'Neill after completing his move to the Scottish Premier League leaders.

"When a club like Celtic are interested in you, you take notice," he said.

"Traditionally, this club is magnificent and so is the manager. I'm looking forward to working alongside Martin O'Neill and (assistant coach) Steve Walford, who I know well."

O'Neill added: "I'm absolutely ecstatic to have signed Craig. We do have an option to sign him on a more permanent basis at the end of the season."

Bellamy was fined two weeks' wages by Newcastle after a live TV interview in which he accused Souness of lying, following a very public dispute about what position he should play in the side.

Souness said: "He can't play for me ever again. He has been a disruptive influence from the minute I walked into this football club.

"He can't go on television and accuse me of telling lies."

Chairman Freddy Shepherd described Bellamy's behaviour as "totally unacceptable and totally unprofessional.

Just read thar Spurs have signed Andy Reid and Mike Dawson from Forest, two excellent young players.

And the Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov has gone to Fiorentina, the same club that was bankrupt and consigned to Serie C two years ago. Big shock given Juve was on his trail.

Damn, Fiorentina of all places! :( This guy is not garnering much mainstream attention playing at Lecce (although Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea were apparently also interested), but he has to be one of the brightest young stars out there — 11 goals in 21 games at 18 years old. Lecce should have kept him until the end of the season.

How about this one: Roma youth player Raffaele De Martino previously rejected a professional contract offer from Roma and disappeared from their camp as he was apparently negotiating with Arsenal, but today signed until 2010 with... Bellinzona of the Swiss second tier!?!? [:0] At least one Italian media source claims that this move was actually orchestrated by Arsenal and De Martino will be in London in six months. Meanwhile Roma want to appeal the whole thing.
