Winnipeg Fury
Alan Gordon who scores twice to help Timbers beat Whitecaps 3-1 posted May 24 @ 0:50, EST VANCOUVER (CP) - Alan Gordon who scored twice to help the Portland Timbers beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 Sunday. It was the Whitecaps' first loss of the season and their second game in as many days, after winning 2-1 in Calgary on Saturday. Vancouver midfielder Davide Xausa netted his first goal as a Whitecap to open scoring, but the lead lasted only five minutes. The loss drops Vancouver's record to 3-1-1 while the Timbers move into first place in the Western Conference at 4-0-0. Vancouver slips a spot in the West to third. nolando
Ouch! Spanked at home- nice to see Xausa bang one in since he's been working hard, and to see Nash (and Harmse to a lesser degree) playing regularly and making a regular offensive contribution. Maybe the Caps style will change (or the coach) with a few more poor performances like this. Looks like Clarke is a fix at the back. I would normally say that these in-form guys would be useful fill-ins for WCQ but with our projected opening group our very best may be the only ones who can really do the job. DarnCherry
Fonseca needs to be fired. Late in the game, needing a couple of goals to equalize, what does he do? Takes out Xausa at forward and replaces him with a DEFENDER!
