The Surinamese government will most likely pass a bill next month that would allow players with dual nationality to become part of the Surinamese National Football Team. They are the only country in CONCACAF that doesn't allow this yet.

Former Champions League winner Nordin Wooter has been asked by the Surinamese FA if there would be enough players in The Netherlands that would consider playing for the team. Wooter contacted 100 players by letter and has received 85 positive responses in no time. It's not sure if the other 15 were negative or haven't responded yet.

Some of the players that have reacted positively are

If this goes through, they are going to have a proper team and would serious contenders.

It's one thing to respond to a letter.  It's another to put your career aside and take four flights to play in San Salvador.  These types of initiatives have worked (e.g. Jamaica) and have not worked (e.g. Jamaica.)  Let's see where this goes.

Most of these players will be coming over to Surinam during the winter-break in the Eredivisie (26th december) to play an exhibition match against W Connection FC (League champions of Trinidad&Tobago) to convince the Surinam governement to pass the bill.

Not nearly on the same level, but the Cayman Islands tried something similar 10 or so years ago.  It didn't work out for them...

Well, as you say you can hardly compare the quality and depth of players that the Cayman Islands could use to Surinam.

Those players listed seem to be a little heavily slanted to the backline. Dutch are not known for their defending or grit, so we'll see how good this side really is.

A bigger list has been released today with players who would be interested.

Not all players will be granted permission to travel to the exhibition match by their clubs but clubs will have to release them if the Surinamese government will approve the dual nationality for these players for WCQ2018 matches.

You can make a proper quality team with those players. There will probably be some bigger players as well who are not known yet or who are still hoping for a Dutch national team call-up.
