Elias
http://uslsoccer.com/recentnews/178767.html USL News Release Friday, April 20, 2007 TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues announced today that the Sudbury Canadians have been removed from the 2007 W-League alignment and schedule and their franchise rights have been terminated effective immediately. “It is unfortunate to have to make such a decision at this point in time,” said USL Executive Vice President and COO Tim Holt. “However, those partnerships forged to assist the club in meeting the standards for a W-League franchise this season have not materialized and the team is no longer in the necessary position to ensure fulfillment of its 2007 season commitment.” The schedule for the Northern Division of the W-League will remain 12 games. All dates for home matches have been preserved within the schedule changes with two being replaced with exhibitions.
sudcan
Sudbury W League The primary is issue relates to fielding a reasonably competitive team at the W level. No doubt we will need to do more on the local player development side of this equation but we will also need to find constructive ways to recruit players from other parts of the province and bring them to Sudbury. Over the course of the next year we will explore all of these realities and we plan to have meetings with our sponsors, local organizations, other sport franchises in the North and even the government. We will explore this fully with the objective of doing our best to include the North in higher level international competition.
