jagum
Somebody knows which countries will be heads of groups in the next GOLD CUP? May be according to the rankings of the FIFA? or according to the results of the last GOLD CUP.....Or why not the heads of the groups could be the only three champions MEXICO, USA AND CANADA;).... canso
Base on FIFA rankings: Top Seeds Mexico (19) USA (28) Cuba ?!?(51) Pot 2 Costa Rica (54) Honduras(59) Trinidad (68) Pot 3 Panama (74) Canada (87) Guatemala (87) Pot 4 Haiti (92) El Salvador (125) Guadelope (not part of FIFA) ...but since this is CONCACAF where nothing makes sense and there is no actual draw anyways I'm guessing it will look like this: Group A (LA and Houston) Mexico Honduras Guatemala El Salvador Group B (Miami and NJ) Costa Rica Cuba Panama Haiti Group C (NJ and Boston) USA Trinidad Canada Guadeloupe
Alex
Looks about right except I would switch one of Cuba/Haiti with El Salvador as it every gold cup ive seen have had caribbean or central american teams split up as much as possible. Even though Cuba is ranked third in concacaf, they should be about 10th so we should see US, Mexico and Costa Rica head the groups. We all know the groups will be structured to maximize profits and to make sure Mexico and the USA make it to at least the semis.
canso
You're probably right but the groups certainly look competitive and having Cuba and Haiti in Miami will draw the crowds. Should be a good tournament, no wild card guest teams just bitter regional rivals head to head! .
