MEN’S U-20 TEAM DRAW TURKEY 1-1

Rematch Scheduled For Thursday

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Men’s Youth Under-20 Team today drew Turkey 1-1 in an international friendly played in Antalya, Turkey. This is the first camp Head Coach Dale Mitchell is holding with the next Canadian Youth team since the recent quarter-final success achieved at the 2003 World Youth Championship last December in the United Arab Emirates.

After a scoreless first half, Canada fell behind their Turkish counterparts in the 80th minute.

Canadian midfielder, Tyler Rosenlund (Port Coquitlam, BC) who substituted into the match in the 72nd minute evened the score one minute later in the 81st minute.

"Better finishing, particularly in the first half, could have brought us a victory today,” said Mitchell. “In general the performance was quite good for our first match together."

Canada will play Turkey again on Thursday before concluding the camp.

Right on, Tyler. Like I've said in the past, I saw this young man play for our U17s in Victoria and was very impressed. He reminds me of Stalteri; though probably not as quick, I think he has sharper soccer instincts.
