Hooper for Lou Marsh Award?

I see that the Toronto Star (at waymoresports.com) has a vote for who should be considered Canada's athlete of the year, with four male choices & 4 female choices. Charmaine Hooper is one of the choices, and as of now she is at least ahead of the 65 year old female golfer who won some senior LPGA tour this year (no offense to Golf Fans, but its reasons like this why I cringe whenever I hear of golfers being considered for "athlete" of the year, right next to curlers, bowlers and darts players).

Also of note for female soccer players, bigsoccer.com is running a "Who is the hottest female soccer player?" thread in their "Beautiful Game" section, and while no Canadians have voted (as far as I can tell) Kara Lang has nevertheless has garnered a couple of votes from posters. It looks like the Ex-Mrs. Ronaldo is getting the most attention, along with various un-identified members of the Swedish national team.

It was a good sporting year for Candians. Charmaine has some tough competition. With another strong performance or two, Iain Hume might deserve a place on that list.

The results will be published in the Star on Saturday, Dec.13.
