littleD
From soccerway.com... This year's Womens World Cup will have an early bird special for the final game. The October 12 final game at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California will take place at 10am local time. The defending Womens World Cup Champions, the USA, are placed in an almost exact group as they had in the last WWC in 1999, playing Nigeria and North Korea again. Only Sweden will take its fellow Scandinavian Denmark's place. Weird time to have a final of a big tournament.
PaulV
I'm not sure where the TV audience comes from for the WWC, but that makes it 1:00 pm Eastern time and 6 pm in the UK, 7 pm in Western Europe. Probably accounts for it. Agree that it would be a bit of an adjustment for the players' schedules.
DJT
They want to show off their shiny new soccer-specific stadium to the Europeans.
beachesl
Baseball playoffs then, this is the major reason:timing to avoid conflict. One league will play in the afternoon on Sunday, the other Sunday night. I think the European timing is of secondary importance.
Bxl Boy
I don't think europeans really care about the WWC And the TV audience for such games is very low there, so there's no demands for a special timing for the final Or maybe Blatter has a huge plan to promote Women football and forced europeans big tv's to place it on prime time joke ! ___________________________ http://www.impactsoccer.com
